Dan had a Liverpool accent.

I know people from Liverpool who couldn't understand that guy. He's in a special category all his own.

I actually had trouble in the Whittaker years because they all had the same accent and it sounded like an "East Enders" much of the time.

Yaz had a Yorkshire accent, Ryan was attempting one, Graham had an Essex accent and Dan had a Liverpool accent.
You develop an ear for these things.
