    Ah!

It makes want to see a movie about the very first Sith Lord and their apprentice.

    'Cos they're also always outnumbered.

    I'm happy about Star Wars/Disney.

    Yoda movie could be cool.

I'd like to see the Jedi Order when at their best, before the decline.
Way before, 700 years ago sounds about right.

    That said-
Prequels showed their bad qualities, I want to see their good ones.

Yoda's single combat failure burned me up.

The wonderful stuff he said in Empire does not jive, now that the history was revealed.

I wanted ,(and imagined), that Yoda's defeat was caused by overwhelming Imperial Star Destroyers and weapons, that Jedi's wielding The Force just could not win out against them at the time. Not without billions of innocent lives being killed by and on both sides.

Dark Side stronger yes, but Light is still supposed to win out, or at least have a draw. (how can there be a Balance of The Force anyway, if The Dark Side is always more powerful?)

    Yeah, it was Yaddle.
That's about as close as Lucas has come to even revealing anything about Yoda's race.

There was a SW Galaxy trading card which was originally withdrawn because GL didn't want anything revealed or speculated on concerning Yoda's species.

    >'Yoda, are there anymore like you?'

Isn't there a female one on the council in the new movies?

Unfortunately I fear this film will answer the question: 'Yoda, are there anymore like you?'

Having read it for the first time a few months ago I'd agree. There aren't any real contradictions; just a few awkward scenes (knowing what we do now) that could easily be changed. 'Course, I'd still prefer something new, with new characters and all.... I'd DEFINITELY watch one with the ice cream guy. Or maybe....?:

These standalone SW films have great potential. It would be awesome if Joe Johnston's Boba Fett movie got the go ahead.
Yes, I would love that. Out of all of the characters, Boba is the one that deserves his own spin-off. I hope Johnston's still interested in directing.

When I first heard this it was like I could hear a million fans screaming out NOOOOOO!!!! in unison and I thought "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened."

A movie just about Yoda just sounds unappealing. The character just all that interesting since he's so set on his morals and his principals. But a movie where Yoda is the only character from the original cast to be included in the new film sounds intriguing. The whole concept of the character in the first place came from the idea of "what if this great Jedi master that Luke has to go train with is just the opposite of what everyone's perception of what a warrior should be" Once that reveal that this goofy little puppet is the great Yoda came in the middle of Empire, they were stuck with a muppet that really just worked as a wise old sage. In the prequels they were set on making him "active" and turned him in to a bit of a feral gremlin. He's also 900 years old so he probably shouldn't have been backflipping around and yielding a lightsaber at 840 so it was kind of silly for him to be in any combat situations anyway.

However, given his stated age in the films, the timeline of the new stories could be anywhere in between his birth (and if Disney really wants to sink the franchise that's exactly where they'll start) and death which mean Disney may not take it in the direction of any of the existing characters. This wouldn't be new territory for Star Wars either since that's exactly what they did for the two Ewok films which in retrospect ended up being the best two prequels of the series. (They take place a few years before Jedi) Think about how better off the Alien franchise would have been if they focused on the marines and dropped Ripley after the second one. So maybe they'll forget about Luke, Vader, Han and the rest for now. Their stories are kind of told anyway unless we want to catch up with Luke and Leia 40 years after Jedi. I know the ideal sounds good in theory but look what happened to Indian Jones. Disney bout the franchise so they could introduce a whole new set of characters within the Star Wars universe. If could be the franchises equivalent to "Next Generation" and the exact opposite of trying to shoehorn every single character from 4-6 into episodes 1-3.

I haven't picked up a modern SW figure in years. Sideshow outpriced me, and Hasbro outpaced me. But I would be ALL over some Splinter of the Mind love.

I'd be in line right behind you. I was thrilled when Chris Sprouse adapted it, too. I'd been waiting for that since I was 12.

Firstly, I never thought the SPLINTER story contradicted much of anything compared to what the typical hardcore Star Wars fan thinks about such "relative contradictions" in SPLINTER.

Secondly, even if there WERE such canon contradictions in SPLINTER, they're so easily changeable that any contradictions could be changed, and then "problem solved". Heaven knows that SW EP. 7 is going to be some HUGE mish-mash of EU ideas that'd make a hypothetical SPLINTER film adaptation look like a Tatooine desert picnic as far reimagining source material.

Thirdly, SPLINTER has one of the WORST reps of any SW EU story ever, so that doesn't bode well for much of anything feature filmwise.

Fourth... you and I have something in common. I love SPLINTER and would rather see that adapted than any other SW EU story.... so here's to hoping. Dang, I'd settle for SPLINTER action figures.
