The POTA series was awesome! And it's too bad it did not last longer. Anyway, to the point. Yes, "The Trap" would be one of the best episodes. The dialogue between Burke and Urko was amazing. I think the writers used the help of some professional anthropologists to work on some episodes. Must have been the case here. Another one I would have to mention is "The Good Seed", on which Burke and Virdon have to spent some time with a peasant family.

My favorites are "The Trap" and the one with the hang glider. Has anyone ever read Rod Serling's treatment for a Planet of the Apes TV show. Serling proposed just one astronaut and mutants to boot.

    The Trap and The Gladiators!!!
The two best and The Gladiators guest starred William Smith and Marc Singer.

I always thought it was kind of ripoff to have Zaius

They should have changed his name like they did with Galen

I thought the same thing and oddly enough they put Ursus out on an Urko card.

It's funny you would say that because I truly thought Mego had screwed up his name when I first saw "Ursus". People have to remember back in those days there was no internet, DVDs, or even VHS tapes to reference movies. Once I had the Urko figure and then saw Beneath the Planet of the Apes again, only then did I realize the name change. I just thought to myself, "Eh. I like Urko better." And so it was.

My least favorite is the pilot ... It just seemed kind of boring

I also didn't care for the fishing one (boring)

I kinda like the one where the apes make the humans fight in the arena

As a kid, I recognized him first over Ursus. To me he was the best general ape I had seen. He was intimidating and a perfect villain to hide from. Still a tragedy that series did not last long. A great show by every measure.

"Up Above the World So High". Written by the great Arthur Browne Jr. but I'm preachin' to the choir. I still remember where I was when I heard the news of his passing on that snowy January 3rd day back in 2006.
