I keep trying to buy it but my wife refuses to ever watch it. She has a bad memory of it and that prevents me from buying it even though I actually find it amusing.

It's NOT the money.., it's the actual TIME you've wasted that could have been used elsewhere.

I don't care what anybody says, I like it. I've always liked it and I can recognize it's not great and flawed, but it's fun and that's all I really care about. I feel the same about Escape From L.A. Bad movie, love watching it.

It's on mine as well and all this Duck talk has prompted me to revisit this quirky classic!

I liked it as well. Not great at all but a guilty pleasure for sure.
Also Lea was hot so it's really a win for me.

so - my daughter noticed it on the recommended for brue netflix channel (may 31 2011).

the 2 girls asked if they could watch it.

7 year old "That was a great movie"
4 year old "I liked the Duck movie."
43 year old "I like this movie"

Seriously - it is fun. I like (not love) it. Yes, cheesy and currently out of date effects BUT considering the movie is referenced in a dozen threads a year here and the fact it is released says plenty of people DO like it. I think it may be a guilty pleasure movie - you know, one everybody says they hate so you want to play along even though the people who said they hate it are closet fans or never saw it.

They never had sex or simulated sex in the film. It's against the law to portray bestiality on film. There was a scene where they were both on a bed together and there was innuendo but not a sex scene that I recall.

The 2 great failures of this film were to convey the wise-cracking attitude of Howard. In the comics he pretty much roasts humans continuously. That is a job for someone like comedian George Carlin. Second you can't convince anyone that isn't a person in a suit. The proportions are all off compard to the way he is drawn. You can put a person in a costume for the THING but you really need CGI to make Howard appear as a realistic creature.

I've definitely seen worse, and at least this was about a human type duck, so it's acceptable. I have a copy of the original Fantastic Four movie from the 80's. Now that was one crappy comic book rendition. A 10 year old could have done a better job with a home video camera.

Lea seducing howard and the scenes with the band are the best in the movie. Now if you could just condense it to those i'd be great. Willow didn't even have that much going for it.

this is one of those movie that can and should be enjoyed not ridiculed.
i burned my VHS to DVD years ago

it has great actors in it - hey just watchin lea is worth it.

the effects were great for the time

    the story is fun

it is a comic book brought to life

i think folks (including Geeks still in the geek closet) weren't able to say hey this is fun and roll with it.

no, it isn't a classic but it is not a movie to hate by any means
i was tortured last night with "If Only" I would have been happy to rewatch HtD instead.
