Hershell was bitten, and the infection must have traveled in his body almost immediately. It took them a minute or two to cut off his leg, right?
So I still feel Eastman could have been helped. Hershell's injury was way more traumatic.
I've been saying it from episode 1 now: these idiots should be wearing protection. They're asking for it.
And they should take care of their pets better. Put a lock on that cage. Close the bloody door. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's goat neglect...Leave a comment:

I don't think the blood infects you
it's the saliva --- like get bit by a Komodo DragonLeave a comment:

Yet Walker blood is perfectly safe...as gallons of it has splattered all over eyes and mouths of people...even on opened wounds from other types of injuries, causing zero harm...
...I still don't get it.
Any biologists and chemists in the house?

From what I understand, the bite of a walker causes a really bad infection cuz, well, they're dead and rotting and full of yucky stuff. It's not, as we all know, that they are spreading a zombie virus. So, as has been pointed out already, in Hershel's case they amputated the leg before the infection could spread into the rest of his body.Leave a comment:

Agreed. And if you combine that with the fact that everyone is already carrying inside them whatever it is that turns them into zombies, then getting a bite is only going to expedite that process.Leave a comment:

Back in Season 3, Hershel was bitten in the leg, and they quickly cut his leg off before the infection could spread and it worked. But I'm not sure if it would work on a torso bite compared to in an extremity.Leave a comment:

Definitely was the worst part of the episode. I thought it was pretty boring. I just don't like the dialog and situations these writers create. It's just too obvious too often.Leave a comment:
