I think it's both. In fact, after watching Prometheus, it all seems almost Lovecraftian.

I vote both but ...... is it a horror movie with a sci-fi tone or a sci-fi with a horror tone? I see it as more sci-fi with horror elements in it then a horror movie with sci-fi elements.

Yep, it's both. I consider the Thing to be both as well (all versions). If it involves terror and fear of some kind, it's horror. If it involves aliens and/or outer space, it's sci-fi...so it's both.

Horror isn't just gore it is suspense, fear, nerve racking. All this is Aliens in a whole

so it definitely is a Sci Fi /Horror movie

I absolutely consider it sci/fi horror. I also consider it one of my top 3 favorite movies. Absolutely belongs on the October agenda.

Its a horror movie mired in SF trappings, kind of like the 1951 Thing movie. That one was basically a Universal Monster movie with a flying saucer.

    Easy...it's both.

Futuristic technology & bloody gore...all that meshes into sci-fi-horror.

i consider it scfi because it takes place in the future, in outer space and is just a big, mean alien life form.

i mean you could call Star Trek First contact horror if you just go by scary. the Borg are creepy as hell.

I always considered it Sci Fi only.

I even consider Inseminoid (Horror Planet) to be Sci Fi only

Horror. The tag line alone is a giveaway.

    I went for Horror .
Just the Deliverance of the Movie, and the Tone, is Very Horror-ish of what was presented in that Medium at the Time.

I'd say the 3rd Film is Also Horror.

The 2nd, and 4th Films along with the 2 vs Predators..., are Most Definately Sci-Fi / Action Hero Genra.

Nostalgiabuff, I've always considered films that are scary as horror. What's the difference? Not trying to be a jerk, just wanting to hear your Point of view.
