I adore The Munsters and Universal's monsters, but I cringe every time I hear about this show.

Huh? Herman is now a creation of Grandpa? What's wrong with how the original went?

From the way I read it, NBC will give everyone another reason to enjoy the originals.

One of my favorite Hollywood pretensions is the distancing oneself from a project that is "beneath" you by saying you've never watched or been a fan of something you are promoting. So all the other pretentious gloryhounds aropund you will wink knowingly at how wonderful you are for turning crap into art.

We see this all the time, stars in big budget adaptions of comic book heroes telling the world they never read them or even heard of the character before. Superman- who he? Then they act all surprised when their version crashes & burns.

The Munsters has been running non-stop everywhere since 1966. It's been revived a few times since. To say nonone even remembers it just shows how full of crap this guy is. I'm SOOOO Important!

Quote:"Audiences now don't remember The Munsters, unfortunately" What a Load of BULL****!!!!!!! The show has only been in syndication for the last 30 years what a crock. If you wanted to do something different then don't call it the Munsters...you could have created something new inspired by the Munsters. But as always taking a cherished show then raping it and making something sinister for a darker audience......Herman Munster is a regular Joe who just happens to be a Monster that was the running joke and that's why it was a hit show.....so sick of these Hollywood asswipes raping my fav shows! freeking come up with your own stuff and leave the past alone.........

I love when people say "no one remember this...". Then why re-do it?

My kids love the Munsters. They got into them during CN's marathons last year. We bought the movie double feature at Target, and they've practically worn the disc out.

I hope the best for this...it will be hard to capture what the original had. I also think there are vast numbers of Munster fans (we are not all dead yet) out there that still love the original, not as vocal as Trekkers but just as loyal. My grandkids love watching on Netflix. In one quote he said nobody remembers the Munsters....not so sure about that.

So, in other words, they are turning it into Twilight.
