I remember when Good Times video would dig up some foreign version of Snow White or some such every time a Disney film was re-released on video. I recall some knock-off Hunchback of Notre Dame films as well.

Yeah, that's a movie by a company called "The Asylum" about Abe fighting Zombies:

That company's business model is to quickly make low budget movies with similar concepts to big budget movies - to basically try and trick people:

Animation studios have been doing the same thing for years. Parents see ads for a Disney movie about a fish all over the place - then they see a fish movie in the Walmart DVD bin and buy it for their kid because they recognize it:

The Ratatouille rip-off called "Ratatoing" is HILARIOUS, because it seems the only thing they knew about the movie that was coming out was that it was about a rat chef. You can find clips of that on YouTube.Last edited by Brazoo; Jun 12, '12, 2:03 PM.Leave a comment:

I can't vouch for the movie, but the book is a good read. I think it got a bit carried away in the end though. If you have any interest in Lincoln or the Civil War, it's a neat alternative history view...with vampires.

The trailers make it look like it's super-CGI and designed to be in 3-D
This doesn't give me any hope because usually moves that are made like that mostly appeal to kids because they basically look like video gamesLeave a comment:

this might end up being a rental for me. I didn't even know there was a book.Leave a comment:

The book is far better than it has any right to be, based on the ludicrous concept. My wife brought it home from the library, and I somewhat reluctantly started reading it. The author sucks you in with historical accuracy and slowly introduces the idea of vampires into the mix.
The movie looks to take the action in the book into Matrix-like super-human realms, which has me a bit concerned. The book is far more subdued in that area. Still, I'll probably see it.

I actually enjoyed the book more than I thought I would but I will probably wait to watch the movie until it plays on one of the movie channels.Leave a comment:
