Is there really an Abe Lincoln vampire hunter movie ?
I think it's worth watching at the movies, and if you don't like it you can always watch Magic Mike
Dude there were s Many Damn Chicks at the Theater Yesterday watching this Film ...., I couldn't figure out what was going on ....., till I was leaving, and a couple of them were talking about the Film, then I remembered the Entertainment Weekly Coverage.
Just got back from seeing this. I thought it was a great movie with a lot of action, and I have to agree the axe fighting was very cool. I've been reading American Vampire lately and the vampires in the movie had a similar look(large fangs, and really scary, like a good vampire should be).
I've not seen the new Woody Allen or Wes Anderson films, which I suspect I'll like quite a bit, but so far Avengers is the the only major release this summer I'd rate ahead of Abe the Vampire Killer.
Certainly, it's outrageous. Abe is basically a 19th-century super-hero. Things happen that are super-natural and super-evil and super-heroic. It does have gaps in logic, and its historicity is only as authentic as the plot needs it to be. It features Matrix-like fight scenes and has a truly epic climax on a railroad bridge. I loved the stampede scene as over the top as it is. The Civil War is part of the vampires' plot, and the South takes it on the chin. It's a fun film that intermingles a bit of history and pathos with good character development and a whole lot of action.
I prefer to see movies in the theater because I'm able to focus only on the film and shut everything else out. But, if you are going to see a genre film and have already seen Avengers, I'd put Abe at the top of the list.
I really enjoyed this movie as well. My wife thought a few scenes were over the top ,like the horse stampede scene, but I looked at her and said - hello, Abe Lincoln is killing vampires. The whole concept is over the top, just enjoy it!
Question...worth seeing at theater or wait for dvd? My 17 year old son and I were going to see it this past weekend but were on vacation and offered it only in 3-D at the local theater, which he hates. Now Spidey is out followed by Dark Knight...what to do, what to do.
There is an excellent kids book with the title Benjamin Franklinstein. Ben founds the Order of Prometheus and is preserved as an electricity eating zombie just in case mankind might need him later on. Fun idea.

I like the idea of Franklinstein. The monster could fight in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, be the only survivor of the Alamo, fight in no-man's land in WWI and land at Normandy in WWII.
He could have whacked up some werewolves, too, with that silver blade. I had heard the book was very good, but really never had time to get to it. I liked the trailers to the film, and I was very pleased while watching it. The vamps were actually pretty scary. Fun stuff. I enjoyed Dark Shadows, but this takes the best Vampire prize for the summer, to me. Once this hits DVD and the premium channels, it's going to pick up a lot of fans.
It was a lot of fun. Pretty solid story too. I thought the horse stampede was a bit over the top even though it was visually stunning. The train scene was very well done. The actor who played Abe sold me. If you choose not to see it at the theaters, at least rent it on dvd when it comes out.
It's a fun action-horror flick. There's an fight scene in the middle of a horse stampede that's incredible. The climax on a train is pretty fantastic, too. The vampires are evil and wicked and nasty. Not the lovey-dovey type. Yeah, it's outrageous, but it was a lot of fun.
