Another set that might fit the bill, the Evil Dead movies.
Don't think they were to gross, or too much foul language.
The first one creeped my daughter out when she was young. Mainly because the camera effect of it zooming along the ground.
Evil Dead would be ok..other then the girl being raped...by a tree..lol

The Fourth Kind with Milla Jovovich is pretty trippy...I think your daughter will get a kick out of it...

Creepshow...
It's got a bit of gore, some laughs, and I don't think it has much or any swearing.
The stories are bookended with scenes about a father not allowing his son to read horror comics though

Anyone mention the Chuckie movies yet?
I remember my daughter watching a marathon of those when she was about 8 or so. She kept covering her head in her blanket every time it got too scary :D

No, I don't think she hasn't. She likes scary movies and I am guessing she likes the type of movies that have something happen to make you jump out of your seat.

Just to clarify, I have never watched any of the Saw movies myself. I was flipping through channels and caught one scene of someone trying to escape but his only way out was to push his face through a bunch of knives which would have scarred him for life. It wasn't scary at all just gross in my opinion.

I also don't allow her to watch those types of movies in my home. Apparently, her friends parents allow them to watch these movies at sleepovers unbeknownst to me....they don't ask if I am ok with it or anything.

The other day, she wanted to watch "The Silence of the Lambs" which I have on DVD. I told her no way could she watch it and would only slightly consider it if it was on a major network with the nastier parts cut out. She went into a whole monologue about how most everyone in her grade has seen it and I apparently am the only parent who won't allow it.

I was trying to think of some movies that would probably be scary for her but without the profanity, blood, sex, etc. As a side note; I have had discussions with her friends parents as to what I allow her to watch and not watch and would ask that they abide by my standards when she is a guest in their home. They say ok but I think the movie watching still continues. She has watched horror movies that I think are inappropriate for her age even after discussing but when I ask where she saw it; she has selective memory.

Fright Night was Fantastic good call.
dawn I thought of but the remake was a little gory especially the birth part and the classic has the opening point blank head shot that I thought might be a tad much but still a great great flick in my opinion.

Wow this is a tough one there are so many great films also does she have a favorite type or subgenre(vampires, werewolves, maniacs, monsters)
"Scream 1,2,3"
They are great.First one also has Henry Winkler in it.

"I know what you did last summer"(plus sequel) they are both good.also has sarah michelle gellar,Jennifer love hewitt.
"The Fog" remake is decent.(the smallville guy)
"prom night" remake is okay.
"Night of the living dead" 90's remake by savini is the best version plus it's in color...LOL
"Land of the dead" romero
"return of the living dead II"
"The grudge" (plus sequel)(sarah michelle gellar)
"The Ring"
"The Return" (sarah michelle gellar) good psychological thriller.
"Shaun of the dead" not really scary it's more of a zomedy but great.
"The crazies" 2010 remake great film.

I am pretty sure most of the above listed films are nudity free and the gore factor is not that bad.
I agree on not wanting them to watch the saw films or crap like hostel. Not at 14(my oldest daughter is also 14)
