It wasn't bad at all. Maybe a little too artsy based on the crowd reaction coming out of the theatre. I thought it was pretty well conceived and executed. It's actually quite bloody at times, but there's little to no horror. Willem Dafoe is great, as always.

Horror movies for the most part don't get good reviews...film critics always love to hate on them.

Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 64% rating...which is actually pretty damn good for a horror movie.

    I'm checking it out.

The reviews are really not that bad...there are some good reviews in there...especially for a horror flick:

Plus, I am a little leery of movies that I start seeing previews months before they are released. Daybreakers preview was showing up a few months ago (with no release date) which made me not sure about wanting to see it.

I wanted to see this today but my Wife thought we should see something that she would like. Well, since we always see what I want to see, I gave in. She wanted to see "Leap Year", I suggested "Youth In Revolt" instead, having never even heard of her choice.........even a crappy "Daybreakers" would have been better than those choices.

From what I've seen of it, it looks pretty bad. Between Twilight, True Blood and this, Hollywood has finally managed to make Vampires uninteresting to me. One Vampire is cool, unique, gothic, spooky, etc. When everybody is a Vampire the specialness is gone. It's just lame.

started a topic Anybody seen the new movie Daybreakers?

Anybody seen the new movie Daybreakers?

    Stars Ethan Hawke,

In 2009, a major viral outburst transformed a majority of the world's population into vampires. It is now 2019. With only a handful of humans left to provide blood for the starving population of vampires, extinction is a very real risk for the new dominant species of humanity.

The vampires are depicted as being immortal, and possessing similar physical appearances as regular humans. Vampires are depicted as having yellow tinted irises and pale skin. They also have most of the 'classic' vampiric traits; lack of a reflection, fangs, vulnerability to sunlight and stakes through the heart. They also have no pulse.

In response to the dwindling blood supply, the vampires seek to hunt and farm the remaining humans for their blood and to find a blood substitute to prolong their existence. If a vampire doesn't drink enough human blood they will begin to transform into a violent, anamalistic bat-like creature. A secret team of humans and a 'cured' vampire team up with a sympathetic vampire hematologist researcher and try to uncover a way that could rescue the human race from extinction.

At the same time, small factions of surviving humans wish to repopulate the species, often using violent means to retain their humanity

Very interesting premise...I'm going to check it out.
