As a side note, I don't eat snack cakes anymore but I always enjoyed Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies and Hostess Fruit Pies....I was partial to Blueberry.

That's weird....around here in Maryland they were called King Don's. Just to make sure I wasn't having a bad memory, I looked it up and here it is

I love those...and Hostess Cup Cakes as well.

Mexicans' number one Americanized/commercialized sweet treats are Gansitos Marinela..owned by giant Bimbo corporation:

Grupo Bimbo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You can usually find them in Mexican-themed markets...and you can even order them online:

    Amazon.com: Gansito Marinela Pastelitos - Snack Cakes - 10 Gansitos - 1 lb 1.63oz: Gourmet Food

Mexicans have been eating them since the 50s...lol.

    60s commercial with Chabelo:

YouTube - Anuncio Gansito Marinela - 60s Chabelo

    70s commercial:

    YouTube - Anuncio Gansito Marinela 2 - 70s (Mexico)

    80s commercial:

    YouTube - Gansito Marinela

    50th anniversary commercial:

    YouTube - Gansitos 50th Anniversary-60 Seconds

They are great if you freeze them too.

    Mexicans LOVE them!!!

I don't eat snackcakes any more because of my changed eating
habits over the years (desserts have become intimidatingly rich to me)

    BUT

    from memory...

I'm right there with Mike on the Butterscotch Krimpets---
probably the definitive treat in the "snackcake area"

    BUT

del mentioned Tastykake's OTHER "big one" for me----which is
    the Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes

Never "lunged for chocalate"---but add Peanut Butter????

    I was ON it!

FUNNY BONES, man...I had a baysitter who'd put FUNNY BONES
in with my lunch---and I just went crazy.

One more thing---the JELLY Krimpets weren't anything to sneeze at either!
