you ever feel the need to just purge parts of your collection?

i haven't really actively collected in a number of years. Other than a few NuMego picks up last year. my wife and I are starting to downsize so i am really starting to purge my collection. took a lifetime to accumulate so I guess it will take a while to let it all go too. it's nice to get some closet space back too, lol

I did that a few years ago. Just got sick of the idea that I owned stuff in boxes that hadn’t seen daylight in years. Just seemed pointless to own it and never see it. To me anyway.

I've been selling off parts of my collection for the past month or so. Mostly comics and figures I had but never got to display...and eventually lost interest in.

I was heavy into MarvelLegends and GI Joe a few years ago...but times and interests change, ya know?

I figure let someone else have the joy. I will take a small amount of cash and a small return of the usable living space.

Sometimes I buy something only to sell it a year later. But I generally like 99% of what I bought over the years. I've seldom lost money on items but I always viewed it was a hobby or escapism. I visited family a month ago and stopped by the comic shop to pick up a X-men figure for old times sake and they had close to nothing like 5 figures and none I wanted I understand the shop not having Remco Conan/Warlord or Vintage Mego but 90's toy biz should be a gimme for a dive like that. It showed me times have changed.

I've purged a huge part of my collection in past years thanks to family emergencys and personal health problems.

I'm totally ok with that because what needed to be done- was done...

Today, my re-collective mind is my collection and library.

I have found selling to be tricky. Call it un collecting, if you will.
It can become almost as obsessing as collecting and just as hard to stop once you start.

I try to get rid of it in lumps so I’m not being nickel and dimed. It’s like here it is it’s 20 figures 200 bucks plus actual shipping probably close to fifty bucks.

you're right, as i make space in my closet it makes me want to sell even more. not that i really need the space at the moment, it's just nice to have it

I have made a few drop offs and got cash back for a bunch of boxed items I've held onto for so long at a collector comic shop and the owner was nice and generous in my opinion. Since Mego is back big time been clearing my FTC boxed items. I have an overabundance of stuff in my storage(but it's organized), also sold my New Mutants run of books(including THAT guy) and got something for that. Next spring will be getting rid of hopefully my DST Trek ships in box and old GI JOE ARAH vehicles.

Never really purged to make room, but probably should have. Unemployment is forcing me to selectively part with some stuff I'm just kind of "meh" about, but which can bring some money in. It's not necessarily a bad thing.
