Dark Night Talk--with Spoilers

Something else I've been thinking of since I walked out of the theater (the first time).

The title for the next movie. It's right there in "The Dark Knight Returns". One of the books is named "Hunt the Dark Knight". Now that'd be a great title. After this one did gangbusters, including "Dark Knight" in the title couldn't hurt a sequel either.

Chris is right, the guy survived the movie. Of course, now that he's known all over Gotham, that guy is doomed as hell....

Sorry Bat, but the Joker didn't capture the lawyer/accountant guy. He walked away with the cops after Bruce trashed his Lamborgheni to save him. Joker did capture the TV host that was interviewing him (played by Anthony Michael Hall). He was the first hostage Batman unmasked. Joker had them dressed as his clown goons while his thugs were dressed as hospital personel.

Plus um....the Joker captured Him(and broadcast it on TV)...what do You think the Joker did with Him afterwards? The Joker doesn't want anybody to know Batman Identity but Himself!

It's true the "secret identity" card has been played in other superhero movies. But the way it's done here -- with an inside employee threatening his boss -- has never been seen. It's a brief aside that serves to establish the victim of the Joker's mad bargain. If you would've chosen to develop a different victim, that's fine. But I like the twist that Wayne saves him -- he is, after all, the noble hero -- and the outcome that the employee owes Batman his own life.

Did you see the look that Wayne gave him? I don't think that guy will be a problem.

The subplot with the character who discovered Batman's identity is the catalyst for the entire main plot about the hospital evac and demolition. Without the one, the other could not have happened. The script by the Nolan brothers is extremely balanced and tightly edited; remove a single scene, and the logic of the plot falls apart.

So... you are saying they couldn't have found another reason for the Joker to blow up a hospital? Not buying it. Anyway, like I said before, it's only something that irks me a bit--no big deal. I just wish they would have killed the guy. Just seems like this sort of thing is done way too much in the comic book world. Oooo who knows Batman's identity???? Blah.

I do agree that the script and general plot line work really well. When I think about everything that happened in that movie, it's amazing that they held it together. In lesser hands it would have been an absolute mess.

what better villain to bring into film #3 now that Rachel is gone?

and frankly i hope they don't bring Two-Face back--i was surprised just how much Two-Face there was in the movie, and i feel like seeing a whole movie with him would now have kind of a "seen it" feel to it.

and even though i was disappointed the film was so unrelentingly dark (poor Bruce i think doesn't have one moment of joy or satisfaction in the whole 2 and 1/2 hours), i think this is Nolan's Empire Strikes Back--the 2nd chapter is super-dark to set up an ultimate uplifting redemption at the end.

I agree with the consensus that they should wait a few movies before reintroducing the Joker, but in no way should they do away with the character simply because Ledger died. I mean this is the Joker we're talking about not Maxie Zeus.
