i saw it last night. i will say no more as to not reveal anything.
my only piece of advice is to people planning to take their small kids to see this movie---DON'T DON'T DON'T.
it is a tough, sprawling, nasty, grim exploration of people in moral decay, punctuated with bursts of incredible violence. any small child seeing Heath Ledger as the Joker will have nightmares from it, of that i am sure.
there is virtually no joy to this movie, no sense of the inherent fun of Batman--as grim as he is--and Nolan's vision of Batman and his world in this movie is one of pure, chaotic hell.
TDK may in fact be a brilliant movie--i still need to process it--but its a 2 and 1/2 hour trip through physical and emotional hell, and i really implore any parent planning to take their kid to see this movie to see it by themselves FIRST, then decide.
Warners has no business marketing this movie--via toys--to children. it is entirely inappropriate for them.

I didn't even know it was out until I saw the big cardboard cutouts at the cinema tonight. What do people think of it so far?Leave a comment:

We're going tonight after work. There's a small theater right down the street and it's only $6 for an adult ticket. So we're going to walk down to the Brownstone Cafe for dinner, then across the street for the movie. We also might see it again tomorrow(Saturday) at the drive-in. They're showing "Dark Knight," then the new version of "Journey to the Center of the Earth," which we may or may not stay for.Leave a comment:

Just like every Saturday this summer, I will take the kids to breakfast somewhere (probably IHOP this week) and then hit the first matinee. Big difference is that the wife will actually be going this time, which is cool.
This has been a great summer for movies. Even the ones like Prince Caspian and Get Smart, which were somewhat craptacular, satisfied the kids.

The wife just got back from a business trip, and one particular customer at my job has been particularly annoying, meaning lots of 7 am and 7 pm calls trying to please the unpleasable. Otherwise I'd be going to the midnight showing at my favorite theater with the largest screen in Arizona.
Instead I pre-bought tickets for the 10:40pm Friday night showing at that theater.
The only question will be when will I see it again in IMAX, which will mean a longer drive. I'd guess within 2 to 3 weeks, which is less time than I waited to see the IMAX version of Superman Returns.Last edited by Hulk; Jul 18, '08, 3:18 AM.Leave a comment:
