I know. Today we had Texas chicken a la king with black beans. Normally I would have spanish rice when eating Tx/Mex but since there was pasta I decided to cut it.

I'm not a huge fan of mixing starches in a single meal (SPAM aside)

Beans on toast is like eating pasta with mashed potatoes --- Yes I know, i'm Polish-American and love perogies but you get the idea

One thing you have to remember about me is I spent several years traveling the world and enjoying the food, so it makes it very interesting when combining foods.

A little of Asian/American with the Spam sandwich adding in the British/Canada Baked Beans on toasted bread.

Baked beans on a sandwich seems very British

    Spam & Beans

Ok today my boyfriend was in charge. So for lunch he made the grilled Spam & Bake Beans sandwich and dating an Asian it seems every meal comes with (Jasmine) rice.

Now I was so not ready for this but it actually tasted good. An extra surprise was the combo of Baked Bean and the Jasmine Rice, as we ate some of the beans wold fall on the plate so we mixed them up with the rice and may have come up with a new side dish. We washed it down with cherry soda, I drank my last Cheerwine.

There are more sandwiches on the page that I think we will be trying at a later date

Oh that is what I pick up for my boyfriend. It is one of those compromise that works in our house.

My asain boyfriend loves Spam so ever now and again we try some new (actually older) spam recipes. The last one was
Oreo Spam burger.jpgOreo Spam burger 2.jpg

Our take on the McDonalds Spam/Oreo burger. He loved it, I thought sweet Oreo spread was too strong.

Regular SPAM is too salty. It’s not bad tasting, but too salty. I have rarely bought and eaten it. I know there is a less sodium version, but have not tried it yet. Hawaiians love it, as it’s even served at restaurants in the islands.

For Mid-East Coasters that have never tried SPAM I think the best comparison would be with Taylor Ham but maybe a tad bit more sour - but in a good way

If necessary, drizzle on some ketchup ---- must be Heinz

Turkey Spam is actually quite nice. Sliced thin and fried makes nice sandwiches.
