Animated movies always hold strong if they're good. Families don't rush to the theaters opening weekend like teens and fanboys do. Wall-E will be a challenge, but Kung Fu Panda will still hold steady for a while. BTW, it was a great, fun movie.

Kung Fu Panda looks like it has more legs than Hulk at this point.

Actually the average ticket price in 2003 was $6.03. The average price in 2007 was $6.88. Now we won't have a specific average for 2008 until the end of this year, but based on those figures alone, your talking a 14% increase which bumps Ang Lee's Hulk up considerably. So in order for TIH just to match the business of the 2003 Hulk it will have to do $150.5 million in ticket receipts domestically. If a comparison is made you have to place these films on equal weights and right now, unfortunately, this one is suffering at the hands of poor marketing and the bad taste left from Ang Lee's version. I have no doubt the film will be profitable, especially after DVD sales get figured in, but from the stand point of future stand alone Hulk films, I think we've seen the last of them. Unfortunately. I think the series could have gotten alot better as it went along, but the general public is clearly jaded from the first outing and is not willing to give additional efforts a chance.

I think word of mouth will keep this movie fairly solvent for the next few weeks. Word of mouth killed any additional or repeate business Lee's Hulk may have had. It's not going to be Iron Man big, but it will do as well as the FF movies I bet.

Can it be adjusted for number of theaters??? I live in a VERRRY small town, but we had Iron Man opening weekend. We have yet to see Hulk here and I have to think that is not unsual.

I was shocked how poorly it did at my theatre this weekend. I hope it will perform fairly well for a couple more weeks, though. People genuinely seem to like it. I think Get Smart seemed to pull all the family business this weekend.

Actually if you adjust the numbers for inflation since 2003, Ang Lee's Hulk will probably end up making more than this venture (theatrically anyway). But I have no doubt many people will pick this up when it comes out on DVD and that's where the real money will be made. Like so many films, they don't find their real popularity until they hit video shelves.

Get Smart has a shelf life of a a blink.

The hulk may have dropped but is still doing well

    Hulk Numbers

It is a good movie and will continue to do well. 5 yearsa later it cost the same amout to make as Ang Lee's yet it will ultimately gross much more.

The point was made that this was presented as a sequel in the sense that Lee's left us in South America and both real time and movie time it was five years later. But as far as connections go that and the principal charaters are the only cominalities.

I liked the first Batman, the second was too dark and weird, and the Joel Schumaker ones, especially Batman & Robin......god-awful.

The FF flicks are not great but are enjoyable...at least to me.

    X-Men 3 was a mess, and Elektra...well....argh.

Iron Man has passed the $300 million mark, and that's fantastic.

Indiana Jones is right behind its heel...it will also pass the $300 million mark soon.

Get Smart had a nice opening weekend and is currently number one...The Love Guru's numbers are not that great...and The Happening will soon be not happening, lol.
