Anyone here remember the Commodore days?

p.s. I forgot to mention that the above picture is kind of crappy as it was taken so long ago with one of my first digital cameras. I believe it was a 1 Megapixel camera at that time. Thank goodness for evolving technology.

Here is "one" of my first C= programs that my Dad bought me for school since that was what the computer was initially purchased for.



Of course once I got into BBS's on line and making new friends on line, trading public domain and other software, getting invited to trade parties that was pretty much it for the educational part as it pertained to school anyway. I still used it for school just not as much as the other stuff. Actually I had learned "a lot" from that now old computer.

I started with a Com Vic20. I started my code writing with that one and had a tape drive for it (cassettes!). I remember upgrading to the C64 and shelling out like $400 for the 5.25" drive for it. I learned most of my code skills and early encyption on this machine.

I never bothered with the 128 as I was custom building by then.

Even though I had a C128 there never really seemed to be a whole lot of really good software made for it. Thanks goodness for dual mode. There was GEOS which was the equivelant to a Windows type of operating system back in the day. Fancy for the Commodore days although still nothing to brag about.

I remember all the text based games. Hitchhikers guide to te galaxy drove me insane figuring out that game.

Ah...the Amiga. I remember it went hand-in-hand with the Video Toaster...that made for an excellent editing and video graphics machine.

Yes, The Amiga along with the Video Toaster was quite the package to behold. I can remember walking in a Software store back in the day seeing a new Amiga displaying awesome graphics done by the Video Toaster. Very neat stuff indeed.

Anyone remember the public domain side of games?

The Aztec Challenge was awesome for a FREE game.

I also like alot of those Sids and the Sid Player. Rob Hubbard was a great composer.

Yeah, I had a C-64 and C-128. We used them some at school between '85 and '88, but I mostly played games on them. "Kung-Fu Master", "Winter Olympics", "Pogo Joe", "Dr. Jay vs. Larry Bird" and "Airborne Ranger" and another basketball game were some of my favorites.

Those were great games. I do not remember "Pogo Joe" so I am not sure if I had that one or not. Probably did I just do not remember it. I litterally had thousands of disks, but that one isn't ringing a bell of the top of my head. I liked all of the Winter Games, Summer Games and Knight Games editions. One on one with Dr. Jay vs. Larry Bird was great to for it's time.

i just found a stash of about 20 vic 20 games carts in my shed, are they worth anything these days ?

I am by no means at all an expert in the Vic 20 field of games although I would think that the right interested person come along would make you a decent offer for them. Check out eBay's past winning auction history on them to see if you have something worth while. Sometimes certain cartridges, games or what have you are more rarer than others. Depending on what you may have and of course the condition. You may also want to try a Google search for sites that are specifically geared towards the Vic 20. I hope that helps a little.
