I have to agree with the overall sentiment here - it was a spectacular movie! Certainly as good as Spider-Man I, maybe even a little better. My wife, son and I loved it.

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury does bug me a little, I have to admit, because, like most, I grew up with a Caucasian Nick Fury and have never ready any of the Ultimates stuff. But Jackson is a great actor, so I have no doubt he can pull it off.

I knew someone had suggested that in this thread.

Forgive me, Hulk, for being too lazy to go back and give credit where credit was due! Good call!!!

Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark was terrific, he made the movie...Iron Man was not bad either, lol.

I still hate Gwyneth Paltrow though, I just can't stand her.

Jeff Bridges was also a solid villain.

Kudos to Jon Favreau, he knows his stuff.

It's no mistake Rotten Tomatoes rated it 94% positive ratings, the highest ever for a comic book-based film.

I loved the beginning...that's how a playboy billionaire should behave, not like brooding Bruce Wayne, lol.

I rate this movie a solid 9 out of 10.

what? How can anyone hate her? she so cute She was so hot in great expectations

Dave it stays pretty much to what the character of what Tony Stark is....the movies always takes a bit more liberty. They want to entertain everyone not just the comic book fan. Downey was perfect casting.

Just saw it and loved it.

I think that if they thought this would be such a hit, they would have hired a different director, one with more action experience behind him, and that would have probably ruined it. The acting and directing made this film really good. Downey was awesome.

I have no clue how accurate it is to the comics, since I haven't ever read any, but I find that I enjoy Superhero movies more if I wasn't an avid follower of the comic version anyway.
