that sounds like a way to score some major hubby points

Again, or so I assume from what I have read.

Not counting Belgium's wacky ways, it seems to me the only way to truly have a King and Queen at the same time is if 2 siblings marry each other - like they used to in the old Egyptian days --- ps yuck

Ahh yes, that would be William, seems I need to get up with the times, London times that is,
but would Kate actually become Queen when William becomes the King?

Kinda weird but if the King/Queen marries someone that is a noble (Duke, Dutchess, Lord, Lady, etc) then their spouse will be a King or Queen with them. If they marry a non-noble the highest they can achieve is Prince or Princess.

So basically, Queen Elizabeth's husband, Phillip, is a regular schmuck like us so he can't be more than Prince Phillip. If her son, Prince Charles becomes King Charles, his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will become Queen Camilla. Of course there is a tonne of issue with Camilla and her being divorced and married twice, etc, etc. Princess Diana was a Lady prior to marriage so if things had gone differently she too would have become Queen Diana if she stayed married to Charles.

Or so I understand from what feeble knowledge I have learned as a Canadian with the Queen still on our money

EDIT: Apparently I am wrong. There is no constitutional document that states what the wife of a king must be called in England. The matter is decided by "royal prerogative" rather than Parliament; in other words, King Charles would have the sole authority over whether his wife would be known as Queen Camilla.

These days, in the UK, it's the Monarch plus a consort.
in the UK, the present consort still thinks we live in 1850. The Queen was born in that year, I think...

Here in Belgium, we have a King and Queen (at the same time). Once you're King or Queen, you're it for life, even if the next one takes over. We've had times of three Queens and two Kings (at the same time), which is great in a card game, but very expensive for the country in real life...

Don't know about Britain but here in the U.S. we've had Burger King and Dairy Queen for a long time...haha okay (sorry)
I'm guessing way way back in time England must have had both a King and Queen.

Is there ever a King and Queen at the same time ?

Most of my little knowledge of Royals come from Britain

They have a Queen and Prince

Sometimes they have a King and Princess

Like the fables of old was there ever a King and Queen at the same time ?
