This reminds me of a good scary episode of True Nightmares I seen last night.

These 2 girls kept hearing knocking on their walls.

At first they thought it was their dead mothers ghost.

Turned out to be some way more real and malevolent

There seem to be multiple haunted threads lately. Is there a curse on the Mego Museum?

That seems like a more plausible explanation.

Ok, so the front door wasn't locked properly to begin with. So it eventually pops open by itself. Maybe from the weight of the people on the porch? Maybe from a draft coming from inside the house. As the front door open, a draft slams shut an upstairs door.

That's what I would propose as the most logical explanation.
But I do "believe" in unexplained phenomena (things that look supernatural, but are just unexplained natural phenomena), so I won't dismiss the other option.

My idea of a ghost is what happens in Interstellar...

Well, the Crimson Ghost was really just a guy in a cool mask. Haha!

Now he has to get out a window or hide behind drywall or whatever.

It makes sense that way. Just sayin'!

    That makes sense.

How else is he going to scare off potential buyers? Send Scooby and the gang after him...

You must have seen the Andy Griffith episode where Otis was making moonshine in the "haunted house"
