RIP Mr. Best. A fine character actor, I've seen him in so many roles from the '50s through the '80s--equally adept at villains, comedy, even dramas like "Ode to Billy Joe." -

He was my favorite character on the Dukes of Hazzard, I've also seen him in many old classic western movies
a great actor, did a lot of small apprances too, for example he was the radio scanner operator in the beggining
of the movie, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, which also featured at the end of the movie Lee Van Cleef.
RIP James, will be surely missed.Leave a comment:

As a kid I watched Dukes for the car stunts. As a teen Daisy caught my attention. But watching reruns as an adult, I realized how great James Bests' Roscoe character was. Some of his one liners were hilarious. A very underrated actor.
RIP Roscoe P. Coltrane.Leave a comment:

Seemed like a pretty cool guy. Very underrated actor. RIP, 'Sheriff Roscoe'. Thanks entertaining us with that character. "Cuff 'em and stuff 'em, Enos you dipstick."Leave a comment:

Good character actor. His character on The Dukes of Hazzard was my favorite. I believe I've seen him in more than a few westerns as well.Leave a comment:

About a year ago, he won somewhere between 5 and 25 million (big gap, I know) from the Studio for royalties from "sales of “Dukes” merchandise in the early years of the show." Not sure exactly what merch, but I hope it made his last year a little more fun.

RIP in James. A good man who in real life seem to be the very antithesis of the character he was best known for. Fascinating individual. Hopefully he's found Boss Hogg by now.Leave a comment:
