So Ranch Dressing would be called American Dressing in some parts of the world?

Uh - well, I looked it up and it doesn't seem like it's referred to at all outside of the USA and Canada. Maybe our non-North American friends can confirm this?

I grew up with a lot of Italians and I love authentic Italian food - and from what I know Italians like salad dressed with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. My guess is that Italian Dressing is really American.
