odd names for stuff in different sections of the country.

As far as I known everybody in Canada calls a case a beer a two-four. In May we have a long weekend that usually is on or around May 24th and that is called May-two-four weekend and everybody ges camping and drinks beer.Leave a comment:

In Texas we used to call ALL sodas "Coke" -- as in "What kind of Coke do you want -- Sprite, orange or root beer?" While sometimes you might hear the word "soda" said instead, the word "pop" would invite sneers of derision and calls for whatever Yankees might be present to return to their sector of the nation post-haste.Leave a comment:

Here in NW Jersey and NE PA in the sticks we sometimes call underwear "gotchie"

As a kid in Connecticut, I called a sub sandwich a grinder. I didn't realize there were other names for it. I also called a soda a soda, not a pop. When I joined the military I found out how isolated I was being just in New England. I never said ya'll until recently. Anyone else have some odd names you called stuff that when you grew up you found out your little neck of the woods was the only place they called it that?Tags: None
