Have you moved to a place in the past few years which is at a higher altitude than before?

Lower barometric pressure will cause the gas to escape the liquid faster.

Have you tried buying one of these for after you crack the seal on a soda bottle? I bought something similar in a supermarket but haven't tried it yet:

This is embarrassing! We did not find what you were looking for. Error Page not Found - 404. Please use our search box to keep looking. Thank you for our patience while we get this corrected.

I'd bet the biggest problem with the fizz does come from the sweetener. Corn syrup is not and can not be sugar and thus the carbonation process affects it differently. As far as the diet and reduced calorie stuff, I avoid those on the principle of taste first and foremost. Diet soda to me is like Non alcoholic beer.

I have noticed that two litres go flat within about ten seconds of me opening them. And I agree that glass bottles are the best, I don't have any trouble finding them in central Ohio. I am pretty sure I even saw Fanta last week.

    That kinda makes sense.

Well, the reason I ask is that one of the side effects of Topamax is a change in sense of taste with people experiencing the very same reaction you are having with carbonated beverages.....

I've had migraines since childhood and hurt my stomach on Excedrin when I was little. So, ever since then I can't handle anything stronger than Tylenol. Never heard of Topamax before. Had some pretty severe side effects when I looked it up. My Mom used to take these shots for her Migraines years ago. Can't remember the name. Worked briefly but the rebound headaches and side effects were far more severe than what they were supposed to be treating. So, she stopped taking it.

For me, it's diet Coke and some dark chocolate.

Yeah, those Mexican Cokes are the best...and they are all over the place, now! I live in NYC and see them everywhere here in the past year or so...even at the major chain stores (and Mexican Pepsi in glass bottles). You might expect this to be so. But... In addition to that, when I go to southern Indiana, Mexican Coke, Sprite and Fanta in glass bottles is all over the place.

Oh yeah, Mexican Cokes are the best. I have to watch my sugar, but I get one of these once in a while for a treat. I throw it in the freezer for a bit before drinking. It tastes like pop did when I was a kid, glass bottle, sweetened with real cane sugar. Tastes like heaven!

Diet Coke has been my fav Soda since I was a kid. Can't stand drinking Coffee or Tea or anything hot and regular sodas with sugar, give me terrible stomach cramps. But, I've always loved me some Diet Coke. It's also been the only thing that can put a dent in my Migraines. But the Last maybe 2 or 3 years It's just not been as fizzy or good as it used to be.
