One year, as I was heading home after a few hours out -- some bully teenager stop me and my friend and tried to steal our candy bags!!!! He grabbed them and was pulling them away from us. I said hey man don't take the whole bag, I will give you some. I asked what he like and we gave him a few candy bars, then he let us go with the rest of our candy. kind of ruined the day since we were pretty scared (he was a big teenager).

I don't really have anything negative that happened to me but one year I was handing candy out there was some nut job with a rifle sitting on the porch 4 houses down from mine that kind of ruined the evening.

^^^ I remember originally reading about that last year. I've never understood it either. It just makes you seem like the coward when you pick on little kids. Betcha Batman sure scared him good!

My only real negative experiences as a kid was a grumpy neighbor up the street who never seemed to know who you were dressed up as. Batman...reallly? You don't know BATMAN?

The only other one I can think of was last year. My family (including my bunch, my sister's bunch, and my Dad) were walking around and witnessed an adult-sized demonic clown, scaring little kids a few houses up . He was on a leash, led by his girlfriend. We lost track of him, but later on, I spotted him across the street from where we were headed. When he saw us, they made a bee-line to intercept us and the chance to scare my 5-year old daughter and 9-year old nephew. I quickly made it in front of everyone else, got up in his face and warned him to "BACK OFF!" I just happened to be in my Batman costume. I didn't use the voice though.

I have never understood the desire to scare little kids like that. Not sure how old this guy was, he may have been a larger teenager, but don't mess with my kids...or ANY kids.

    Chris

Wow...that sucks, Mikey. That's worse than my story by a long way.

But WHY did you hate it? You could've stayed home, right?

I stepped in dog doo-doo in a neighbors yard once.

I dunno if this is a topic for the Nerd Therapy Couch, but as a kid, I really didn't get to do much Trick or Treating. We lived just outside Harlem NY, and my mom was really cautious. I couldn't leave my apartment building, and in my own building, I could only go to the apartments of folks I knew. This took all of 10 mins. (not an exaggeration! ) When I moved to the Bay Area when I was 13, I was the oldest kid in the neighborhood, so I took the younger kids out, and got candy too. That was really fun. When I moved to So. Cal. w/ my dad, the trick or treating was OK, but then he only let me keep 5 pieces of my own candy and I had to give the rest to my younger half brother and sister! (I did stash some in my pockets before I got home!). And one year, I got to keep more, b/c I was doing The Candy Man in music class. Anyway...was anyone else's Trick or Treating experiences a bummer? Get if off your chest! We're here for you!
