I recently returned to college for my teaching credential and know exactly what you mean about the cost of college books. If you're taking any class that ends in ology, its a $400 book. Some proffesors domt use the books for lecture and use pre made homework packets. I see a lot of students hold out till the third week of class just in case the teacher doesn't make the book mandatory. Some classes also have custom books that are unique to either the semester or the college so you have to buy them on campus and not through Amazon.

Text books now can run $200+ each new, plus you need to buy pass codes to access certain online things and they have a fee like $30-40+ extra. My son just started college this week. I found some cheaper routes but some texts have to be bought new. Books are very expensive now. I had someone come in to where I work and one medical text book was $400 new

I would borrow my Books, never bought them, I saw the scam they pulled. Many times the Professor never even used the book they asked you to buy.

Back in the day I spent $30 on a brand new unused hard covered textbook that they said they would re buy to re sell at the end of the year. Their offer after the semester .30 cents... I hated doing it but I threw it away just for principal.

I always hated when the professor wrote the text because it would be $20 or $30 more because he/she was the only one using the text, so a smaller more expensive press run. I finished college in '91 and was spending $350 to $400 on books each semester. Hopefully, there are some less expensive digital versions for students today.
