We still have an Arthur Treacher's nearby--yummy!
I miss Burger Chef--the burger bar & play-trays.
In retail, I really miss Big Wheel. We also had a regional Oh. chain, Conleys, which was great. And Gold Circle, Mr. Wigg's , Hecks, Nichols, & Ames.
I vividly recall both Buehler's Markets & Conleys having the first assortments of WGSH on type-2 cards.Leave a comment:

I always remember TSS here On long island. It was filled with so much stuff and went out of business before I turned 6 (and was replaced with a really poor Kmart). I used to go there for toys, but my mom loved it too because there were tons of departments. They even had a pet section with lizards......Leave a comment:

Kiddie City
5 and 10 stores
Someome mentioned the Fun malls and I immediately thought of the Bazaar of all Nations or as we all called it the bazoo or the BIZARE (with emphasis) of all nations. if had a small comic and toy dealer, record stores, little food stalls and place that made 5 and 10's look poshLeave a comment:

This is first time I've heard anyone utter "Hills" in ages... they had such a killer Star Wars section and I bought KISS Alive 2 DBLP there. Thanks for stirring my mind vault.Leave a comment:

Wow, not being on the East Coast anymore, I had no idea Arthur Treacher's and A&P were closed. I know Woolworth's was said. I think Thrifty's is closed, right? Man, I miss getting 15 cent ice-cream cones from there. Is Two Guys still around? I remember the TV ad. Sam Goody's, Tower Records, (when they sold records!), Sambo's restaurant. May's Department store, and Alexanders. Clothes Time. Palisades Amusement park. Drive-in movie theatres. Met Foods, Ernie's, Food-o-Rama.Leave a comment:

Let's see.....
Jamesway
Ames
Nichols
Barkers
P&C
Trying to remember the name of the little tractor supply store in Cooperstown. It was next door to the Cooperstown Diner. They had a cool selection of toys.
Here in Alabama,I miss Bud's. It was a store that was owned by Wal-Mart that was along the lines of TJ Maxx or Ross.Leave a comment:

Roy Roger's free standing restuarants: There are still some in rest stops when I travel but I miss the full restaurants. They were just under Micky D's and BK's in the region. All the locations were sold off to eith Mickey D's Wendy's or Boston Market :(
Pizzeria Regina: Was probably a fluke they aever made nearby as it's a Boston based cahin I think but the Pizza was sooo good and a unique thin crust.
Child's World.
Time-Out & Alladdin's Castle Mall Arcades: Some still exist in name but they aren't what what I grew up with. In fact, despite being owned by namco you won't find even a Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man it them!
Alexander's department store: The seemed to have EVRRYTHING and a nice cafe to eat lunch at.
"Fun" Malls, the kind where you could spend the day at. Usually had some combination of great food choices, comic book store, toy store cool bookstore, arcade and later on a movie theatre. Most every mall used to be that way now I can think of only two both which taking a bit of driving to get to.
The most notable for me was Livingston Mall home of the second Heroes World Location. My mom would drop me off at my friend's for the weekend and a trip there was always eagerly anticipated come Saturdays where HW, the previously mentioned Roy Rogers and Kaybee's were always on the agenda. Slowly it faded, first HW. I would still visit there into the 2000's to hit the arcade and Roy's. Then the arcade went in 2005. I still held on visiting Roy's and the B. Dalton's book store until 2007, when renovations finally killed off Roy's.Leave a comment:
