Yeah I grew up in a small Pennsylvania town and I still live here. I remember going shopping at Christmas time and there were great toys in all of those stores. We had:
    McCrory's
Newberry"s (I got my Talking GI Joe Astronaut here!)
Joe The Motorists Friend (Joe the Motors)
Uptown Sales (Best Toy Store Ever!)
    Sears

and if we could get get Dad to drive us out to the east side of town:
    Town & Country
    Nichol's
    Grant's

All these are long gone. I still have Mom's Red Barn coffee cup:

I'll add Gino's to the list, though it might be a Philly/Balt regional thing. I see that someone brought one back in King of Prussia, but I haven't been there yet. Also, there are a few Roy Rogers on the PA turnpike, so anyone driving out to the Meet from the east coast has an option.

Nope. Never got one of those...but my birthday is January 30th, so it was usually really bad weather so we didn't go into town as much.

Best freakin roast beef I ever had.

The big one is Ben Franklin's. I still occasionally dream about going back into the downstairs toy dept. to this day.

    I also miss Heck's
    Hill's
    Howard's
    Kay-Bee

There was a Hostess store not too far away from were I lived. I would go there for their Chocolate Chip Mini Muffins and my Dad for the Ho Ho's. It closed way before Hostess was shut down.

And, as others have mentioned, KayBee's. There would be so many cool toys there. My favorite was the 8" - 10" Godzilla figures. One of the toy collections I still have.

A lot has been mentioned already: Red Barn had the best onion rings. Burger Chef was one of my favorites along with JR Hot Shoppes with Pappy Parker's fried chicken.
There were a lot of private department stores in my area in the 70s that are all gone now.
In Maryland there are a few Roy Rogers that are still around and they are building a new one kind of close to where we live
