I went on a rare trip to the mall recently and it is no where near as fun as it once was.
I missed walking into:
Waldon Books
Kaybee Toys
Time Out arcade
GameStop (it was something eles in the early nineties)
B. Dalton books
There was also another game store that i cant remember also the music store is gone. There was a time when i could spend hours at the mall and not get bored. The place looks kind of deserted now.

When I was in NYC, there was one theatre (and mom knew where it was, but I don't remember), that showed nothing but Disney movies every summer and they called it "The Disney Summer Hit Parade". They advertised it on TV every week. I can remember the velvet rope lines of moms and kids. It was a quarter for kids, and I think 50 cents for the grown-ups. My mom and I used to sneak in snacks. Maybe someone who grew up in NYC in the 70s can help me w/ the name of the theatre and what street it was on.Leave a comment:

Wow! A lot of memories here; especially from you guys in the Tri-State area. I miss many of the places mentioned here.
The Play World in Patchogue, LI NY was my stomping grounds. I loved everything about that place right down to the smell (dusty boxes and new plastic). Many a Star Wars figure, Micronaut and other toys were from this place.
While Modell's is still a fixture in the Northeast as a sporting goods store when I was a kid it was akin to Caldor, Woolworth or Walmart today. If the toys weren't from Play World they were likely from Modell'sLeave a comment:

I remember Playworld in Rockville Centre NY. A few years before I was born in 1979, the one in my town I grew up in (Elmont) caught on fire.
I remember TSS in Elmont too. I remember it like it was yesterday.Leave a comment:

You better watch out Red Hulk; as of last night "Merlin" (from Ohio) is now on the scene as well. I think the only way to go is for you to invite Levi and Merlin to the local Red Barn and sort this power struggle out.
Clearly a sign of the apocalypse. Prepare Thyself!Last edited by Confessional; Dec 20, '12, 7:16 PM.Leave a comment:
