Collectors Choice National Collectible Toy Event set to honor Wonder Woman, James Bond, and Spider-Man.

The internationally recognized Boston Area Toy Collectors Club (BATCC) will light up the night as its much anticipated 12th Annual National Collectible Toy Event takes place on Friday evening, September 21st, 2012 at The Lantana in Randolph, Massachusetts, just minutes south of Boston, MA. Wonder Woman, James Bond, and Spider-Man anniversaries to be included.

This now famous, unique-in-the-nation, fun event has at its core the exhibited choices of the top collectible toy companies in the world today. These are the firms setting the standard in their fields such as CORGI (Hornby PLC), TONNER Doll Company, MATCHBOX (MATTEL), DC COLLECTIBLESTM, Maisto, KOTOBUKIYA, CAPTAIN ACTIONTM ENTERPRISES,LLC, Round 2 LLC, Dark Horse Comics, and more to be announced. These chosen firms provide scarce pre-production items, sold-out exclusives set aside for the night, and numerous examples of the best work in the collectible toy world. Attendees, in turn, have ample opportunities to add many of these stunning items into their collections during the night.

This year’s event will also salute the 70th Anniversary of WONDER WOMAN (1942), The 50th Anniversary of SPIDER-MAN (1962), The 50th Anniversary of the Sean Connery launched James Bond Franchise with “Dr. NO” in 1962, and more.

Not to be outdone, the BATCC is opening its attendance this year to the popular and fast growing cos-play movement where talented men and women transform themselves with great skill. Three categories will be honored with judging and awards to complement the night. Categories will encompass “The Wonder Woman franchise“, “The world of Spider-Man” and “Other” which will be wide-open and could include DC Comics’ Harley Quinn, Marvel Comics’ Captain America, King Features Syndicate’s The Phantom, Lady Action, The RocketeerTM, and more.

Emceeing the night will be both Jordan Rich, of the nationwide CBS radio network, and Tim Estiloz, on-air host and entertainment reporter for Boston Latino TV.

The current owners/developers of the CAPTAIN ACTION license (formerly IDEAL Toy Company originated,) will use the night to announce exciting developments including Lady Action. Recent industry/culture luminaries at our event have included, Robert Tonner, Founder/President of TONNER Doll Company; Susan Pownall, Director of the UK based CORGI COLLECTOR CLUB; Paul Ryan, current artist of the Phantom; Mark Goddard, “Lost in Space”; and more.

All invited guests are greeted by a collection of classic automobiles poised in front of the LANTANA to tie into the diecast car exhibits inside. Full dinner choices, free toy giveaways, ample free parking, raffles, and a jaw-dropping silent auction period are included for all invited attendees. Adding to the excitement of the night, a very select group of Dealers are also invited to set up to offer custom, hand-built automobile models; hard to find older toys; exclusive comic book apparel for men and women; diecast choices from prestigious overseas firms, and more.

The head of each invited party, BATCC member or non-member, will pre-pay US$42.00 with every additional member of that same party paying US$39.00. There are no discounts as the true costs are already heavily subsidized by year-long BATCC fund raising efforts. Invitations are mailed domestically and internationally starting in early August. Prompt responses are rewarded with choicer opportunities for toy giveaways. We must have your name and address in order to mail an official invitation to you.
