Could Peyton Manning's career truly be over?

It's got nothing to do with Sanchez...I'm talking about Manning's best interest...playing with nerve damage on his throwing arm is really risking it...he could get easily crippled out there. -
meh...with no velocity i think he's still better then Sanchez, if i were the Jets I'd be all over thisAs a sufferer of permanent nerve damage myself...I can relate to Manning in some way...and can see how his arm is no longer the same.
The velocity of his throws are just not there anymore...he hasn't improved in this area...and as more time passes with no improvement...well...I'm afraid that's going to be permanent.
That's how nerve damage can be...very unforgiving.
Lets be thankful his neck and spine are healed...and he will be OK with that...but his throwing arm suffered...and well...that's his bread and butter.

Never been a Colts fan but it has been a pleasure watching the career of one of the greatest ever. I agree with Jason, if it wasn't for eli playing Sunday he would have already said he was done. Him and Brady had some incredible games. I will sure miss his desire and passion for the game.Leave a comment:

it sucks, the minute I heard he had the neck surgery i knew it wasn't gonna end good....But I'm sure rooting for him to comeback do well
and if he doesn't then there's nothing to be ashamed of, I think he's the best of all timeLeave a comment:

If it is true, that is horrible. When I read the initial story; I was skeptical. I know for sure the Colts are either going to take Luck or Griffin as their first pick and if Manning can play; it kind of puts the Colts in an uncomfortable position. I sure regardless of his physical ability; there has to be some discomfort on both sides. I'm sure if he isn't 100% but could still play, he may not want to turn into another Brett Favre disaster and I'm sure the Colts organization doesn't want to dishonor one of the best QB's ever to play the game....so maybe if he isn't 100%; it's best for both sides to save face and allow him to go out on top.Leave a comment:

I'm in denial. If Peyton doesn't come back that means one more crappy quarterback will be starting somewhere. GahLeave a comment:

I think it was just damage done collectively. Cooper Manning, Peyton's older brother, also suffered a spinal injury that ended his career in college. Spinal injuries are some of the hardest to come back from. My personal opinion is that Peyton is done.Leave a comment:

What I find interesting is usually a career ending injury for a QB usually comes either from one decisive hit (like Lawrence Taylor on Joe Thiesman) or a collection of hits like Troy Aikman took to the head which ultimately ended his career. That prompted the rule that players could no longer aim at another player's head. But with Peyton, I have never seen him take any super hard hits. So where did this come from? Does anyone know if it was a particular hit where he sustained this injury or was it just damage done collectively from all the years of taking the hits?Leave a comment:

What I've been reading is that he has lost his velocity on the ball. Neck injuries are serious business. I would be surprised if he comes back...to any team.Leave a comment:

I think he's real F'ed up . Somebody like that, don't play a whole season...
Because His Brother Went to the Superbowl ..., I think he's keeping it under raps to not steal his Medai Thunder so to speak. He will announce something soon after I Think ....Leave a comment:

Could Peyton Manning's career truly be over?
From the sound of many sources 'close to him', they think so. I certainly hope not. He's been a great quarterback and done so much for that town and for the league. It would be weird to wake up and not have the expectation he'll be back. It would be even stranger if he can make it back but with a different team. I know one team that should take him.
Here's the story...
