I am 99 percent sure it will NOT say anything about Saleen. The owner should have plenty of docs, or you could pull the S/N and contact Saleen for verification. -
thanx for the info bro, I know they're suppose to have a metal plate under the hood...which the guy says it has but he removed it when working on the car
but he supposedly has it

My solution to this dilemma would be to sell some Megos and have Zemo build me a classic....or buy a Mopar:-)Comment

Check for bumper numbers, console plaques, and underhood plate, depending on year, as well as FORD VIN#.
Always contact Saleen to verify a vehicle BEFORE buying! You'll need the Saleen ID # and the last 6 digits of the Ford VIN number.
To reach Team Saleen call 949-597-4900 or email them at [email protected] or [email protected]Comment

Probably it's not a Saleen. Who in the world purposely removes the metal tag that identifies it as a Saleen while working on the car?
He can swear all he wants...but it sounds like bullcrap to me....and especially if Saleen itself says no.
What I think it is...is a nice clone...but not a true Saleen.
I've never seen a true documented Saleen priced that cheaply before.
If you want a nice clean Stang for a good price...then you should buy it. But if you want a true Saleen...the price is too good to be true.
Just my two cents, Damien.sigpicComment

...and that's the thing that rules in the world of car collecting...DOCUMENTATION...the owner can say all he wants...but without proper paperwork...no dice.
It can mean the difference between a nice 1965 $10-12K D code coupe...and a 1965 $30K HiPo K code coupe...they both look the same Mustang...but they sure as hell are not priced the same.
Having said that...the VIN numbers matching thing was still not set in stone on these early Mustangs (as Zemo would know)...but there are other areas you can check on these old classics.Last edited by Hector; Jan 10, '12, 8:08 PM.sigpicComment
