Black Friday madness

Yeah, around here it's nice to have one that's portable. At Halloween, you haul it to the end of the driveway & sit out there for trick-or-treaters; in winter you keep it near the sled hill; etc.^^In our neighborhood, the homeowners association would frown on us digging a hole in the common areas
lol. Our friends next door have one, last year in the big snow we all sat around it chewing the fat and having a good time outdoors, rather than hiding out inside.
However, I'm jealous of that lobster thing.Leave a comment:

In my neighborhood, a fire pit is a hole dug in the sand where you put driftwood and light it on fire to cook lobster and roast marshmallows-- I don't get how you "buy" a fire pit??? LOL

I thought to myself, "Our people this hard up for what is virtually a every day item, that it's worth interrupting their Thanksgiving to get in line for it?" In this economy, things have gotten so much cheaper, I didn't see the logic in waiting in line for a $25.00 fire pit.
The fire pit was one of the items I bought the next morning when there was no line & plenty of parking. I broke it in on Saturday, but my wood is recently cut and doesn't burn well right now.

My wife and I went out after the late football game just to observe the madness. We got our hot chocolate and/or coffee and headed to the various Walmarts, Targets, TRU, and Bestbuys. I call it our annual observance of 'stupid human tricks'. And boy were we impressed. What was interesting was most of the town appeared as it should at that hour - Peaceful, serene, and quiet. It remained like that until you got within a block of any of these parking lots. Then all h*ll broke loose. Parking lots filled to capacity and overflowing into neighboring Mall's. In every instance, lines wrapped around buildings. The hot items in Target were these LCD HDTV's. We went into one Target and the checkout line had already wrapped around the interior circumference of the store. That line literally started where you walked in. Every other cart had either a TV or a fire pit. I thought to myself, "Our people this hard up for what is virtually a every day item, that it's worth interrupting their Thanksgiving to get in line for it?" In this economy, things have gotten so much cheaper, I didn't see the logic in waiting in line for a $25.00 fire pit.

I used to work in retail until 1997. I never want to go back to that scene. I never want to work on Black Friday again. Customers suck.Leave a comment:

I'm usually quick to go somewhere when I have a day off. On Black Friday I largely stayed home. At about 7, I went out for magazines and food and things were calm. I quickly went home and was glad I didn't get caught in anything crazy!Leave a comment:

I didn't go, but my daughters did. The only thing I really needed was a printer for my work comp. They were $20.00. I thought....get not a bad deal. Hooked it up yesterday to find that it didn't come with the USB hookup. Spent $15.00 on that today. Gotta love it.....

Amen brother. The closest I came to buying anything on BF was online. Circuit City had a killer deal on 50 inch LCD's many years ago. The deal was for a certain price from 5AM-11AM. I got up early and went to the website at 4:45. The TV showed in stock. I waited until 5AM and it showed out of stock. At 11:01 AM it was miraculously back in stock! That was the last I purchased anything from CC and I was very happy went they went bust.Leave a comment:
