On the flipside, a vice prinicipal of my daughter's school who is known to grab kids by their clothes if she feels it is inappropriate grabbed my daughter by the strap of a thick banded tank top she was wearing underneath a short sleeved shirt (no skin exposed), snapped it and told her it was inappropriate. I contacted the principal and told him that no school administrator has permission to touch my daughter's clothing in a rude manner like that and they are to contact me directly if there is an issue with her not abiding by school dress code (we read both the school and county dress code and she was nowhere near breaking it). The response was the typical beareaucratic mumbo jumbo in a vain attempt to somehow justify the actions to which I simply said "No School Personnel touches my daughter's clothing...am I clear?" Not a word from them regarding her attire since that day. -

My daughter has a choice Mike, she can wear trousers or skirts and a tie like the boys wear, its funny she goes to the same school i went to,when i was there the girls had to wear like a cravate type tie unlike the boys,i guess times have changed

I think school uniforms are ok, as long as they are unisex for all.
It's not fair making girls wear skirts if they don't want to.Leave a comment:

Big Brother? More like overprotective parents. Everything is a threat. Everyone needs to be protected. Might as well just wrap the kids in bubble wrap.Leave a comment:

Sounds as if Big Brother is starting to make people "conform" at an early age now. To me that is just not right. Without going all polictical here what ever happened to FREEdom to choose?Leave a comment:

Its compulsary to wear a uniform to school over here, its been like this for decades,my daughter even has to wear a sort of uniform when she is doing sports, like a certain coloured top and gym skirt. They grow up fast and we find that we got to replace certain bits of the uniform every so often, instead of every school year.Leave a comment:

heh, our public high school just up and decided to make UNIFORMS a requirement beginning this school year.
Stores all over town are scrambling to get enough uniforms in....it's a joke by every stretch of the imagination.
The school is failing - uniforms won't solve a thing. hell, they didn't enforce the dress code they HAD....and now, they are boasting of SUSPENSION if the kid doesn't wear proper attire on Day #2.

Kids and clothes
We've started school shopping already. I don't know how this happened, but our kids start school on August 17th. It just doesn't seem right:-( I have noticed a growing trend as far as clothes go. If I think back to about three years ago, I couldn't find much in the way of superhero clothes for kids. A little Batman and Superman on the DC side, and a little Spidey and Hulk on the Marvel side. Most of it was pajamas to boot. In our travels the past few days, there have been cool shirts all over the place. Multiple JL, GL, Batman and Superman on the DC side, and Spidey, Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, Cap, and X-Men on the Marvel side. Throw in Star Wars, Transformers, and all the different incarnations of Lego, and the kids today have it as good as we ever did in my estimation. There will be some tough choices this year for sure.Tags: None
