I have heard one of those stores adverstised around here in the Midwest. I never been to it. I was kind of curious about it though as they sound as if they get nice things.

They're another of the brands owned by Winmark Corp, which also owns Once Upon a Child. Same concept, but aimed at teens.

They have adult sized clothes there too. As an example, I saw a pair of Ed Hardy Blue Jeans in our local one for about $40 looked brand new. I personally don't care for their jeans but know they can run a few hundred dollars a pair.

My wife found a place called "Plato's Closet" which I think is a national franchise type chain of stores that buys gently used brand name clothing and resells it.

My wife likes to collect purses for some reason (I have never figured that one out) but picked up a $300 purse that looks unused for about $20. One of those designer purses...not a knockoff either.

I hear ya on that one. My wife does the same thing. I always say "I've used the same wallet for 10 years!" .

I personally don't have to worry about this particular person anymore. My daughter is going to High School in the fall. I also know the pain of throwing out money for clothes and it is mainly toward her. My wife found a place called "Plato's Closet" which I think is a national franchise type chain of stores that buys gently used brand name clothing and resells it. They are really picky about the items they buy, but most of the items basically look new, they are still in style, and can be 30-50% of the price (sometimes lower) than buying new. Summer is almost over here as well. Kids go back on the 17th of Aug. I hate school shopping with a passion. My oldest is really pushing the limit lately with skinny jeans and multi colored shoes. I consider myself a hip parent but have to draw the line somewhere. I wish there was a dress code here but most kids here are competing with brand name clothes. Hurts my wallet something awful.

I think school uniforms are ok, as long as they are unisex for all.

It's not fair making girls wear skirts if they don't want to.

So are you saying girls should be allowed to go to school WITHOUT their skirt, Mikey?? ::laffs::

Funny that you mention that - we hit the one in Westerville Saturday and got some great deals on shirts and PJs. Snagged some kid books too.

Huh. You might've crossed paths with my wife. She was also at that one on Sat. She says the one on Frantz Rd has a good selection.

I forgot to add that when I essentially told the principal no one is to touch my daughter's clothing; he quickly assured me it would not happen it again. I did not feel the need to take it any further up the food chain at that point in time and told my daughter to inform me if it happened again.

Horrible situation. But—and I hope this is not so obvious I sound foolish—my suggestion is to keep a log of anything/everything related to this. Times/dates of interactions. Heck, maybe a picture of the outfit in question. That way if somehow this happens again, you instantly have evidence to establish a pattern and exert more pressure.

Of course it will not happen again. After you called them on it they knew they had over stepped the boundaries. IF it were to happen again those people are dumber than I thought.

On the flipside, a vice prinicipal of my daughter's school who is known to grab kids by their clothes if she feels it is inappropriate grabbed my daughter by the strap of a thick banded tank top she was wearing underneath a short sleeved shirt (no skin exposed), snapped it and told her it was inappropriate. I contacted the principal and told him that no school administrator has permission to touch my daughter's clothing in a rude manner like that and they are to contact me directly if there is an issue with her not abiding by school dress code (we read both the school and county dress code and she was nowhere near breaking it). The response was the typical beareaucratic mumbo jumbo in a vain attempt to somehow justify the actions to which I simply said "No School Personnel touches my daughter's clothing...am I clear?" Not a word from them regarding her attire since that day.

That is totally not right! The vice Principal had absolutely no right in touching your Daughter or ANY child in that manner in my opinion. I would not stop there I would pursue that issue farther up the food chain.
