I picked-up a ton of transformer type toys for ten cents each yesterday. I'll try to post a pic tonight, I know nothing about them.

You want talk about running out of space, this is my collection room (or half of it actually). The other half is just as bad!!!

Actually it was more of an (auto) thrift market so to speak.

To be fair, I have scaled back quite a bit on my purchases in the past few years. I am slowly running out of space in my office/storage. In fact, she tends to be the one encouraging me to buy and I have to be the one to say no.

I think it's guilt. She has a thing for 1930's art deco jewelry, in which some of those price tags on her rings put my entire collection to shame. We're both enablers to each other's hobby.

I collect Golden Books and other children's books and thrift stores are a gold mine for them. I also occasionally pick up an LP or two, mainly jazz or 70's-80's pop. I did luck out once a got 4 Beatles singles in wonerful condition for a buck apiece. I also lucked into a late 40's bakelite view-master (C type) and several Disney reels for $5.

Probably the greatest find I ever had was at the local Goodwill. My wife crafts and sewed these very ornate small pincushions that she sells on Etsy. Well, she accidently dropped 8 of them into the donation box down the road from us, two of which were already sold. Embarrassingly, she had to refund their money and explain why they weren't getting their item. That weekend I stopped in to the store (just to look around, but just in case I took a $20 bill with me) and happened across the pincushions she had dropped off just earlier that week. I snatched them all up and rushed home to show her. Needless to say the supper and "dessert" I got that evening was well worth that whole $20.

Speaking of hemi, I just backed my hemi Ram into the rear corner panel of a Toyota 4Runner. Small mark on mine, crushed the side of that toy. It was in a parking lot, so no one at fault, we both at fault.

    Happened about 45 mins ago

My story is old, but I have a few vintage Megos that I picked up several years ago for $1 each, one being Batgirl. Most recent is a Desoto Hemi with 2x4 intake which I paid $100 for. I know the last one makes no sence to anyone reading it on this board, but a Hemi is an engine valued at $1,000 alone and the 2x4 intake is valued at almost $1,000

My thrift pull today was this car club/hot rod jacket circa late 50s/early 60s for $5. For those not familiar with vintage clothes they are highly collectible--it's all about the chain stitched embroidery on the back. It's worth several hundred....

Goodwill Industries still is a charity here. They have a huge training center at which I have volunteered in the past.

Not sure how popular these are around the country but besides Good Will and Salvation Army's we also have Catholic Mission stores in almost every big town.

They're good for clothes and sometimes furnature, but not much beyond that.

    That is INSANITY.

I cannot remember my best score. I've found tons and tons of loose 80s figures at a few (GI Joe, MOTU, Transformers, etc.). But it's here and there and they are of course always missing their accessories, so I hardly find it worth the time anymore.

But I'm in these places every weekend, even though I know they're a waste of time for the most part. Goodwill by me is way overpriced and most of these places do not sell loose toys anymore, out of fear of a choking lawsuit.

I heard some THROW toys out a lot. So I plan to do some dumpster diving behind these places soon.

I am sure really good stuff is filtered in the back though. I wanted to get a job at a local thrift store, just to be paid to get first dibs on the best stuff.
