I like the British version of Nightmares. It's a lot more constructive, with less screaming and better advice. I'm guessing that the producers of Hell's Kitchen and the US Nightmares have made it clear to Gordon that they're paying him to be a jerk. I got bored with those shows for that reason.
Man Vs Food: great show. I've noticed that it often comes on while I'm having dinner...which of course causes me to eat way more than I should.

That Man vs Food dude better watch himself...he might develop diverticulitis in due time.
Stuffing himself like that (meaning, eating five, six pounds of food in one sitting) is NOT good for his intestines/colon...

Exactly...I've never really given much consideration to Chef Ramsey. 'Hell's Kitchen' was just an invention to ride piggy back on the popularity of Simon Cowell's over-the-top remarks from American Idol. They took this guy and applied the same concept to personality and sold it as such. He's a B-rated Simon Cowell with a cooking cap. Who cares?

The stress at some of the high end restaurants has to be unbelievable. Chefs want every entree cooked and ready at the same time, cooked to perfection, long hours, etc.
Anyone notice that just about every contestant on Hell's Kitchen appears to be a heavy smoker and drinker? It seems like that's all they do when they go back to their dorms.Leave a comment:

One thing id like to point out to is that working a kitchen truly SUCKS! The pay is low and the stress is unbelievable at times. Most people are young stupid kids who have no aspirations in life but to party everyday. Your basically treated like crap. Depending upon where you work management is VERY shady.
I always have to laugh when I see these commercials for culinary schools.Leave a comment:

I never found his cruelty entertaining. I don't think it's an act either. I think he has some serious issues.
Saw this on Comcast's news page
" Top Chef's Eric Ripert Rips Into Gordon Ramsay"

You are looking at the one chef who made Gordon Ramsay himself cry...

I think alot of his attitude is just for the show. Im sure hes a tough guy to work for but if he was yelling at everyone non stop then he wouldn't have a staff no matter how top dollar he pays at his resterants.
I did work in a kitchen with an owner who acts like he does on his show. He went out of buisness VERY FAST! He wound up getting a bad rep really quick. Ironically rumour has it he committed suicide several years later.Leave a comment:
