Ever let yourself get talked out of buying something you really wanted...

...only never to find it again?

I did. I really love old time radio shows (esp. mysteries). I used to order tapes from Radio Spirits, and my mom even got me a deluxe cassette album called "Old Time Radio's Greatest Mysteries". Well, I really wanted to get this replica cathedral radio w/ a cassette player in the side, so my tapes would have a proper player. My mom thought these things were cheap and would break so I never got one. Yesterday, while watching the Twilight Zone episode "Static", I started thinking about these again, and now they're made w/ CDs and no one has the cassette versions. I wish I had listened to myself.

I had the cassette (and radio) version back in the early 90's.
Got it through Finger Hut catalog
All wood cabinet and looked nice, but the cassette player died after only about a year.
You still should be able to find them cheap.

They must've made a million of those, Sharry.
I'd keep searching online, ebay, craigslist, yard sales?
Better yet, why not transfer the tapes to CD?

I like my tapes, and I hope I will find a cathedral radio cassette one day. Meantime, I do have plenty of tape players in this house, just not an old fashioned radio type.

I know how you feel . . . . I'm sure you'll work it out but remember at some point those tapes will go bad . . . . get some digital copies made and put them away for a rainy day

Back in the mid 90's I knew someone who was selling his Suzuki 125 dirt bike for $50.00.
              Ran good and looked good.
He was just trying to unload it quick cause he was moving.

I still kick myself for not buying it.

I've collected one thing or another for as long as I can remember, and this happens to me all the time. I always end up kicking myself after the item I was procrastinating about is gone; however, I'm usually able to find it again at some point down the road for the right price.

Yes all the time. My wife is usually the voice of reason to me cause if it were up to me I would just buy it and think later. Ive gotten better over time. There has to be some restraint or I would have toys coming out of the pantry.

NOBODY is going to tell me I can't have something I want, now that I'm an adult and can afford my own things.

The only thing that will limit my spending is whether or not I can justify the expense. I will never own an Italian sportscar, but then, my liking for them has waned since I was seven.

but I can have me a Buck Rogers Atomic Disintegrator gun, and to hell with anybody who tries to tell me no.

I always talk myself out of buying stuff. Once logic is applied to the situation, I sometimes see an upside to buying something, other times it helps clarify all the reasons not to buy something. As Spock wisely said, "Sometimes having is not so much as wanting".

My two biggest regrets where a 59 Chrysler 300 convertible and a 78 Dodge LRT. I talked myself out of the first (even though the price was incredible) because I was in the US at the time, and even though the car was from Canada too, I wasnt sure if I could get it back across the border without a ton of hassles. The truck was in Saskatchewan, and needed a bit of work, but I told myself I didnt have room for it at home (and I didnt). Hopefully, I'll run across another one someday!!

As for the radios, Sears and London Drugs sells some up here that have both a cassette deck and a cd player. I'm sure they must sell the same thing down there? I'll have to scope out the brand names so you can check.
