    TV Commercials in movie theatres

Ok, my brother and I just got back from seeing Prince of Persia, (excellent movie BTW), and before the thing started, instead of showing movie previews, they were showing television commercials! I mean, seriously? When you go to a MOVIE you expect to see MOVIE previews, and the MOVIE, but if I wanna see commercials, I could stay home!

Does this drive anyone else nuts?

P.S. Go see Prince Of Persia! It was great!

      I hate it!

Same thing on line! You click on the featured item and have to deal with a commercial before the actual spot..... It annoys the crap out of me!

You'd think for the price you pay for a movie there would be no commercials ... But then again, you pay for cable TV and it's loaded with commercials -- which the old 1980's "free TV" people were proven right.

We got duped and it's our fault for letting it happen.

i wait in the hall untillthe commercials are over . That is the last time I went to the theatre which was a year ago.

Good thing I think everything stinks these days . I gave up cable 10 years ago because I refuse to watch commercials. i dont eat in resturants with tvs showing commercials.

            Hmmmm....

Yeah; it kinda bugs me 'cos I've PAID to see the film. Bothers me MORE when you get infomercials on cable. 'Specially since I'm up all night and they're cutting into my prime watching time!

And I don't mind people heckling the ads at all....

yeah it's pretty low ... the local theater in town has little slides that support local shops etc. that run if you get to the movie early since there is only one show time per day on their single screen ... those I don't mind, since it's better than looking at a blank screen. But the stuff the larger theaters show, I can't stand. and I hate it when they run ads for TV shows before a movie,

Yes, it does drive me crazy. I PAID to see this movie. We were watching some Pink Panther cartoons yesterday and I told my my daughter that this is what they used to show before movies, not commercials.

Another thing I can't stand is movies that are projected out of focus.

Yes, it's a horrible practice. For me, the cinema is a sacred place, and theaters should do everything possible to make it a special experience. As in: one you can't get at home.

The quality of (non-locally run) movie theaters is plunging fast. In addition to being wretchedly overpriced and showing TV commercials, some of them project movies now with reduced brightness, in order to prolong the life of the lamp (projector lights are very expensive.) They truck in huge bags of popcorn rather than make it on-site. And they staff it with 16-year-olds who could care less about providing a good experience. I went and saw There Will Be Blood and the first 20 minutes were squished, shown in the wrong aspect ratio. I think 3 of us went out and complained before the problem was finally fixed.

I hate when theatres always have the sound up too loud.

I don't mind a little loud, but not earshattering

ads in the theater ticks me off and it shows the sad state of things these days. What makes it even worse is that the theater by me for a few occasions has shown the same damn ad twice (or sometimes in a row) before the film starts!!

I have run theatres for 10 years and let me tell you everyone who works at the theatre hates them, but we run a very low profit business, as we make little money from tickets and have to make any money we can. Obviously, this is why we charge so much for concession. The ads are an unfortunate way of making money. At my theatre, we start them before the scheduled time of the movie. If we have 2 minutes of ads, we start them 2 minutes before the scheduled time of the movie. There is one studio that does not allow ads before their movies and I love them for it. It's Disney. Though, I have heard some places still put commercials on theirs.
