I had a banana with peanut butter on it for dinner... I'm craving one too, Cat! Maybe tomorrow...

Ha ha, I love the food reviews! I'll have to try this. Never actually been to Sonic, are they all car hops?Leave a comment:

Out of the 5 Sonics we had in town all but 1 is gone now. One weekend 4 just closed. But I haven't been to one on over 2 years.Leave a comment:

Sorry to harsh about the price, but you have to know, I read your thread and got in my car to go get one. It sounded good enough that I had to get one and despite the price, I'm glad I did.
Thanks for the suggestion! It was a tasty burger.Leave a comment:

Sonic rules, but it is expensive. A #1 at In and Out is only 5 bucks and change, and the fries are far superior to Sonic. I gotta admit though, the Jalapeno Popper burger, to me, is way better than a double double.
Just sayin.

Actually, looking at the prices and doing the conversion, the most expensive Mos Burger is not much more expensive than a comparable Sonic Burger....and that is in Japan for a much more substantial sandwich.

It's a tasty burger. No doubt about it. It's a double cheese burger with a couple of chedder poppers and a great tasting chipotle mayo. Pretty durned good.
Now, the bad news....
As a combo (medium tots and a watery Dr. Pepper) it was $7.79. Way too expensive and that has been my main harsh against Sonic for the last ten years. Add to that the fact that Sonic has carhops instead of being a drive-thru. You have to give these High School kids a tip. They are busting their butts. $9.79 total for a good (not great) burger, unremarkable tots, and a watery Dr. Pepper.
Let me put that cost in perspective. Gas is $2.57 a gallon here so, doing the math, I paid the equivalent of 1/3 tank of gas and I am still hungry. Leave out the tip (which I can't do given the setup of the restaurant), and it's still the equivalent of 1/4 tank of gas. Way too expensive for what it is. I'm not a cheap-o, it's just that I don't consider Sonic a "splurge". Seriously, Red Robin is about the same price (minus the tip) and you get free drink refils and bottomless fries.
Do yerself a favor. If you get one, just get the burger. That will still set you back $5 plus tip. Or...just order the cheddar poppers and put them on a cheaper burger. The effect would be the same.Leave a comment:
