Part of the annual back-to-school ritual was picking out what kind of Trapper you wanted, keeping in mind that you had to carry it all year.

Yes, got a new one almost every year. Also, if you slit the vinyl on the inside you could smuggle comics and Fangoria magazines to school between the outer cardboard pic and the inner secret pocket. ALSO doing this, you could customize your Trapper Keeper however you wanted.

I just described this process to my son. He now thinks I am at the same time an idiot and a genius.

I just remember it was a cardboard/vinyl folder that had a snap closer.

I think it had mostly Fantastic Four characters on it.

I had a beach scene on mine. Had to stop using them in high school b/c the stupid teachers wanted kids to keep a separate binder for each class!

I had one. Have no idea how many papers I had crammed in that thing. When that was full all of my papers went into my locker. Should have seen both of those at the end of the year. Don't know how I ever found any of the books I needed for class.
