My favorite "stroke" ... not sure if this is even a real one but I have pretty big feet - size 12 and I can swim only with my feet flapping with my hands beside me ... Like a frogman would swim.
Is that even a real swimming stroke ?

I take my daughter swimming at the city pool, every other weekend,we both love it,its not to great in the winter and autumn months
When i use to go when i was a kid,i also did the Superman off the bottom and tried to swim like The Man from Atlantis

Our Homes Association has a pool, we also have season passes to Oceans of Fun a local water park with slides and a decent wave pool. They are completing a Schlitterbahn water park (300 acres) just a few miles from where we live and I can already see us being season pass holders. I have always swam and I just figured that's what summer was for... I got SCUBA certified in college and from then on I have been hooked on diving... I can;t imagine life without it... Oh and Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite water park too...

I can't swim.
On my first swimming lesson, the teacher opted for the "throw him in the deep end, he'll swim" approach, as I was hesitant.
And no, I didn't swim.
They had to drag me out of the water.
To this day, I cannot stand water covering my face. It might sound stupid, but when I shower, and the water splashed over my face, I snap back as if I'm drowning.
Thank you, teacher psychology. You sure did me a world of good....Leave a comment:

DUDE! I did the same thing in our pool all the time growing up. i love to throw the water balls like aquaman.Honestly, I, myself could've learned that way---its just I was so so
young when I learned how to float that I forget just how I learned it.
I used to pretend I was SUPERMAN---I would go in the deep end
and get rid of most of my "breath"----it helped to sink faster.
Then I had a few seconds to walk on the pool bottom like it was
"the ground"----and THEN I'd "take off" and "fly" to the top
just like SUPERMAN!
I also pretended I was AQUAMAN a lot.
Aquaman used to manipulate water during
the FILMATION cartoon and I used to pretend
to do that too.....my favorite thing to do was
to spread my arms out and spin around quickly
creating a "whirlpool"

"Think and you sink"
I don't know how well that works...but it makes for a nice catchphrase.

Here's a tip for the back float:
Get on your knees in shallow water. Roll backwards slowly w/ your arms outstretched on either side. Above all, relax! It's like you're laying at home in bed. Think too much and you sink.Last edited by HardyGirl; Apr 2, '10, 12:23 AM.Leave a comment:
