You probably aren't going to see a re-issue of Yellow Submarine. Disney is doing the Live Action/Computer version of the movie. Until that comes out, I would highly doubt that Yellow Sub will be coming out. Especially the way that Apple and MGM/UA are slow in getting stuff moved from the back burner to being released. -

Hell, I just bought a Blu Ray over X-mas...They released The Black Shield of Falworth in the UK...it was out on regular DVD in the UK for about and a year...then they decide to come out with a Blu Ray, and wouldn't you know it...they found a Scope/Widescreen print of the movie. The Blu Ray is a Region Free Blu Ray. That's a movie I was wishing they would release...and they did release it in the UK. I was going over the list I posted and also noticed that another Tony Curtis movie that hasn't been released and that is "Houdini". Another one of his movies that was really good. Anyone know if that's been released here??
Just got The Black Shield of Falworth Blu-Ray in the mail. The picture looks awesome! And I learned something new. I didn't know that Blu-rays are immune to the PAL - NTSC crap. However, I did purchase two by accident, so unless I can cancel the other one...anyone want a good deal on it?Leave a comment:

Sorry, no I meant "Wings" the 1927 silent movie. It's the very first Oscar winner for Best Picture. Are you talking about the TV Series with Steven Webber & Tim Daly set in a Nantucket Airport? All seven seasons have been out on DVD for quite some time.
I'm waiting for DVD releases of :
Alakazam the Great
The Phantom Tollbooth
Fantastic Journey (about a shipwrecked family in the Bermuda Triangle)
The Carol Burnette Show (not the best of segments but the actual entire shows)Leave a comment:

Season Two of Code Monkeys. Now there's a show I wish was still going. [adult swim] should grab the rights from G4. It's not like they're using it anymore. Unless you count 3 A.M. on Mondays when the mood hits them.Leave a comment:

D'oh, I don't have a Mac. Thanks for the info though, the process sounds relatively painless. We use MACs only and from what I found out last week at the SMPTE meeting and Microsoft Studios, they too use MACs for videos. HA!
So if you are on a mac, rip the disc with Mac the Ripper, the best! Then DL MPEG Streamclip and play the VOB file that contains the movie complete and make sure to fixe the breaks. Export to desired output and pic PAL.
Once you have the .mov file in PAL, you can transcode with STREAMCLIP to NTSC or PRORES and burn to disc.
We do most of the transcoding from Final Cut Pro to Compressor but you can use QuickTime as well.Leave a comment:

I hear you, I personally try to avoid any PAL DVDs if possible, because I'm sensitive to PAL speedup, everything sounds a tad higher pitched than it should, but sometimes there are no other options.Leave a comment:

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
It's crazy to me that a best picture nominee like "Secrets & Lies" would be so neglected.
It seems like a few of the movies that came out in that 90s transition period from VHS to DVD have a tough time getting re-released. I wish a few more of Mike Leigh's movies would get the Criterion treatment like "Naked" did.
You have a point. Every time I go through a stack of old DLs I find a copy of "Secrets & Lies". To me region 1 discs get the best transfer treatment and special features, so I'd prefer to buy them. Anytime I buy a DVD and a better version comes out it makes me a little crazy - it's bad enough that I'm probably going to switch to Blu-Ray at some time. The true amount of films, etc that haven't been released on Region 1 DVD would be staggering. But I second the recommendation for a laserdisc player, AND a region free multi-format DVD player, because you'd be surprised how many films and TV shows that aren't available in North America on DVD have been released in other countries. And with the internet, it's very easy to buy releases from other countries. Why limit yourself to domestic releases when there's so much more available in the rest of the world.
To be honest I don't care how good a movie like "I Come In Peace" looks, I just hate the Euro-version of it because it's called something stupid like "Dark Angel" and 50% of the reason I love that movie is because of it's title!Leave a comment:

I hate when they release new TV shows that only aired like 6 months ago on DVD and they still haven't released old shows ... And i'm not talking about shows with a controversial rights background like Batman 1966 ... I mean just regular shows.Leave a comment:

1966-68 Batman
1968-69 The new adventures of Batman and robin (filmation)
1966 - The adventures of Superboy (filmation)
1966 - The New adventures of Superman (the 2nd half of the filmation run that hasn't been released yet)
1992 - Gijoe (DIC)
2007 Legion of Superheroes (season 2)
there are 24 more complete stories for Doctor who which won't need majow ro
these are all avaialble but a proper season release with some commentary would be nice
Leigon of Super heores season 1
Batman Brave and the bold season 1
Krypto the Superdog
and it's be nice if there were R1 NTSC releases for these
Doctor Who 1996
Attack Force Z
Spiderman and his amazing FriendsLeave a comment:
