A pity that the AT-AT didn't have functioning weapons: I might have fended them off with some strategically aimed rockets!
If they'd beaten me up, I might have sued Lucasfilm, though. They're partly responsible...

The story of a Star Wars fan who made a stand!
In 1981, I went to London on a school trip.
I went to Hamley's (biggest toy store in the world, or so they claim), and they had a sale on Star Wars AT-ATs.
Halfprice!
Yeah! I bought one on the spot, 'cause they were $125 in Belgium. in 1981! (

It was really expensive to import these big items, I couldn't afford one at home.
My friend and I were heading back to the hotel with this humongous box, going through the park.
Great move. Go through the park at dusk.
Halfway through, two punks stop us, one swinging a bicycle chain.
"Hey, you, what's in the box!?" the guy shouts.
We added some speed, me lugging an Imperial war machine. In this case, the Empire turned out to be a real drag....
"Hey, you, what's in the ****ing box!!!???" the guy shouts again.
I turned around, my brain thinking furiously, and came up with this brilliant line: "a pair of shoes for my Dad!"
And what do you know. They backed off.
To this day, I'm still incredibly proud of that line.
And that is how I fought for the Empire. With some really big shoes....
