Question for all the historically inclined fans of pulps, comics and science fiction.
Doc Savage, Superman/Clark Kent and Mr. Spock have all employed the pinch of the neck/shoulder nerve cluster to render someone unconscious... Of the three, Doc Savage was the earliest appearance of it. My question is were the two later uses inspired by Doc (I suspect yes in the case of Superman, have no idea in the case of Spock)> Or were they all drawing form some earlier instance of its use (of which I am unaware)? Or was is simply a case of parallel development?
Search engines have become useless for this type of research with for profit algorithm's and AI, so I am asking fellow fans if they have any answers, insights or ideas of possible sources to try to track down answers.
