    John Ashton RIP

One of the best character actors -- John Ashton has died. I was always such a big fan of his growing up. While he appeared in over 100 movies, he will always be best remembered for his hilarious turn in the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise. He was just fantastic alongside Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold. However, as much as I loved those films, I will always remember him in "Midnight Run." I have seen that film so many times, I know the dialogue better than the actors! His role as an inept bounty hunter alongside Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin -- just a phenomenal film! He was always a gracious through the mailer signer for autographs. John was 76.

Up until this summer, when I watched Midnight Run for the first time. I realized-for decades- that i had misremembered Ashton in Beverly Hills Cop for Gerald Mcraney.
Im going to look him up to see if he was in anything else I mightve seen. Rip

I have fond memories of him from the short-lived late-80’s buddy cop TV series “Hardball”, in which he co-starred with Richard Tyson.
        RIP John
