Everyone Had The Same Halloween Decorations

I have never had a kid come to the door "trick or treating". . . .and never did as a kid.

My Kids, I take them for a drive and let them run up to the door of my siblings houses, and parents. . . .but that is it.

Other than that. . . it is costume/theme parties. I am hosting a Harry Potter Spooky Party next week, for the Joey Scouts in my District (Beaver scouts for non-Aussies). We aren't allowed "HALOWEEN" parties in scouts. . . .so I am side stepping it, making it a theme party.

I wish! My bedroom in the 80's and 90's had so many skulls that no matter where you looked, you'd see a skull. Posters, ceramic pieces, toys, shirts, bandannas, you name it. I wish I had taken pics of it.



I also like the blow-molded decorations. Both Halloween and Christmas ones. My parents have a HUGE blow-molded jack-o-lantern that they hang outside during the last week of October.

Kat, I was reading on the net for the most part Aussies don't go door to door trick-or-treating -- prefering to have costume parties instead.

My son has this one on his night stand right now. I have a 3' Empire Santa that I break out for Christmas every year....wife hates it.

I used to collect skulls. I kind of miss it, but not really. I had a cool collection once though.

I swear, when I was a kid, it seemed almost everybody in my neighborhood had some example of the exact same Halloween decorations. There were some more popular ones at Christmas, but they was definitely more variety. I ralize they are from earlier decades, but they just seemed ubiquitous by the 70's. I just put up my vintage Halloween decorations yesterday and I have to say I still love 'em. I realize its mainly for nostalgic reasons, but they still make me smile and pine for a simpler time.

That jointed skeleton is the first memory I have of Halloween. It scared me to death and I screamed and cried. Now I'd love to have one because I remember seeing them year after year in comics and on houses during the Halloween season.

Wal-Mart had a pack of reissue Beistle decorations a couple of years ago that included that jointed skeleton. I picked up a couple of sets after Halloween for super cheap.

I had a jointed skeleton on my ceiling above my bed for many years where I could lay in bed and look up at it. I too had an obsession with skeletons and still do.

I had one of those skeletons hanging on my bedroom door all year round when I was a kid. But I was a weird kid that had a strange obsession with skeletons for some reason, and I loved that thing.

The only decorations that went up in my house were the ones from school. (Mom wasn't much on Halloween). But we did have those vintage things at school, including the classic witch flying past the moon, and witch's face.

These days, I have a Hallmark felt black cat and ghost BOO door hanging, glow in the dark window clings (I have huge picture windows in the living and dining rooms) and a battery powered LED flashing jack-o-lantern, facing the street.

Love that lamp, I had one with a black cat with the pumpkin on his back growing up.
