I had no idea this existed. The only other recent production I know of was I think called "The Hollow" and was a modern updating aired on Sci-Fi. So I know it's a dud.

I may have to snap this up soon before Halloween hits!

I don't suppose the old Jeff Goldblum/Dick Butkiss version is out on DVD.

Yeah, that's the one. They'll probably show it on Hallmark closer to the 31st.

Tim Burton should try to do a film like this. It might just work. Not that I didn't like his version, but I prefer originals. Again, not that his version isn't original. It is. but HE didn't write the story. He reworked it. Even the Disney toon is closer to original than the Burton rewrite.

Since I'm on the topic too. I have to get Nightmare before Christmas and The Corpse Bride out to watch with the family..Truly original Burton classics!
I saw that version last year and thought it was excellent...it's the one with Washington Irving in the tavern collecting stories, right? I should see if it's on a DVd, the Hallmark Channel likes to insert commercials every 3 minutes whether there's a natural break or not, mostly ads for more HC movies (which I just don't get...if you were actually selling products to generate revenue I could see, but ads just to promote the next movie? Weird and more than a bit egotistical).

I like Burton's movie, but it's barely the story Irving created. It's one of the few "reimaginings" that works on it's own, although I prefer the original tale as well.

I'd like to see that straight version you guys spoke of.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is one of my favorite stories, I've read it a four or five times. I like the Bing Crosby Disney version, and there's been a number of pretty decent film adaptions (the Tim Burton-Johnny Depp movie NOT being one of them- ugh!).

I got interested in the story by one of those "Famous Classic Tales" Hanna-Barbera cartoons that ran on Saturday afternoons in the '70s. Not the best animation, but I really looked forward to seeing those. There were quite a few of them, I recall a Davy Crockett one, Christmas Carol, Three Musketeeers, Robin Hood, Ivanhoe. I think most of them are out there on those $1.00 store dvds.

I seem to remember occasionally seeing a short clip of the headless horseman at the beginning of something Disney related and every time I did, I'd find myself standing up in excitement. What a great animated feature. To this day, I love the character and there's even an episode of Little House on the Prairie where he makes a cameo appearance when Laura is scared. There's not enough headless action in the entertainment world.

I assumed it was a longer Disney short, since I saw it for years on the annual Disney Halloween specials. I miss those. They'd show the "Night on Bald Mountain" segment of Fantastia, the REALLY old dancing skeletons short, part of Snow White with the Queen/Witch, and a Donald cartoon with Huey, Duey and Luey and a witch.

I bought it there as well and I just saw it at a store

I think youtube people write "banned" in their titles - a form of key word spamming to get people to watch
