I use G-Mail as my main personal account now, and my old AOL account for shopping, account signups, etc. My Palm Pre automatically synchs with Google's G-Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc. Wonderful service. When I see people with email accounts from their internet providers (comcast, cox, rr, etc) I generally assume they are internet newbs or rubes.

Now that I think about it, I have four gmail accounts. One is my main one, and the other three are set up to forward all their emails to my main one. And gmail's spam filter works great, I get almost zero spam, but they all go to a separate folder that I can view if I want (when ever I do look there, I never see any emails that I should have gotten, their filter really works well)

It's a great way to have a simple email address where you don't want tracking or have to put your real name in. you can open and delete them very easily. I have a couple to use for anything on the internet so my " real " name and business is kept separate.

Makes sense as to why there are good users as well. Darn spammers.

Got me Mike, my best friend has it. When it first started you could only get it by invitation from someone already with a gmail account. I declined since i just use hotmail. If i remember it was supposed to be clear of spamming and similar junk.

It's the one I use the most. I rarely check my comcast account anymore.

It really is legit, my main email account is with gmail. I've had it since Google was beta testing it and the only way to get an account was to be invited by another user. It's cool because it gives you a huge amount of storage, and it's easy to "google" your old emails for something you are looking for. It's the third largest used email program, so I guess the odds are you would get a large amount of bad stuff compared to most email services. But don't you see a similar number of spam/rip offs using hotmail or yahoo?

It just seems that every bad email I get from Craiglist are from Gmail accounts
